Default How do SEAD fighters work in WinSP?

Do they deal with anti-airs more efficiently? I noticed missiles in SEAD fighters lebaled "ARM". Since there seems no concept of "Radar" in WinSP, how do they work?

I played Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations recently. How I wish WinSP would have a more improved air content.

They automatically find units with radars & target them

ARM = Anti-Radiation Missile
They will automatically fire at any radar using units your opposition has and attempt to destroy them (most times when one hits it only destroys the radar not the unit itself).

Actually there is the concept of radar in SPMBT RedGuard. On the Encyclopedia info screen for radar units (SAM's or radar-guided conventional flak) you'll see the notation "AA Radar F/C" for that unit. Those are the ones ARM's were designed to take out (destroy). ARM missions are assigned by using the bombardment screen.

Sorry but SP is mostly a ground combat game. If stuff like air-to-air combat was included it probably wouldn't fit the game scale, since this is a tactical, not operational level wargame.

Thanks! Now I understand how it works...but even I buy some SEAD planes anti-radar mission is still a difficult one. SAMs can shoot SEAD plane as soon as it enters the battlefield. There's a high probability it gets shot down.

As a general rule no SEAD planes normally have the best EW available & ARM missiles generally have a long range so chances of survival are high.

Of course if you are technologically outclassed by your opponent then SEAD planes would have a tough time. In many cases though they wouldn't be flying as the opponents air force is probably superior to so planes would be lost or grounded for fear of losing them.
