The armageddons destroyed my chances for combating zeldor. I was light on tartarians, and instead poured my resources into mages that I had painstakingly equipped. I responded too late to the armageddons, I was not prepared for that many to be cast. Probably more than a thousand gems worth of empowerment and items were lost.

Usually when I have had such a significant research lead, its b/c I found a nice indy site or free fort very early. The extra mage per turn tends to really snowball down the road. Did you find any great sites early on Z?

Utgard's main problem with not being able to stop Zeldor were 1) location - from now on I think I really want to only play wrap around maps and 2) the deadlock in the west with Arcos, LA Man, and Fomoria all having huge armies on my borders, forcing me into a defensive posture. None would agree to peace, yet never really attacked so it was a strange gridlock

Oh, and that early mass sneak attack by Eriu pretty much derailed any real threat Utgard could make. Never get too comfortable with the Sidhe as your neighbors!

And now time for big Thank You post.

Special thanks to:
- Micah, for patience to answer all my questions on IRC and for subbing
- Reay, for game-long alliance, despite geographical difficulties
- AdmiralZhao, for gem donation from LA MArignon, that helped to move things faster [and funded GoH]

And to my allies:
- MA Marignon [Zenzei] - thanks for gems for Crumbles
- Tir na n'Og [Reay]
- MA Arcoscephale [Twan]
- LA Midgard [coobe/anticipatient]
- MA Agartha [cidi]

And those that donated gems to LA AGartha:
- EA Marverni
- LA Patala
- EA Hinnom
- MA Abysia
- EA Agartha
- LA Marignon
- MA T'ien Ch'i

Also to my eastern IRC friends - atul [Bandar Log] and doncorazon [Utgard].

Looking at some comments above I now see that I should also thank the anonymous Armageddon casters. It certainly did speed things up and enabled teleporting victory at all.

Lolomo:
The first armageddon was a big surprise for me too. I really thought it was DrP casting it, going for domination in the east [I expected it to be a preparation to attack you]. I lost probably 200-250 mages to armageddons, after 1st one [and Jim's reaction to them, with a promise to add soem more from Helheim], I did some tests and forged lots of fire plates, as protection from it lowered mortality by about 75% [so I could protect at least some mages]. I lost Forge Hammer and Forbidden Light because of Armageddon, but managed to reforge it [I wonder if anyone noticed them].

I couldn't wish at the moment of first armageddon. I had Forbidden Light on one of my mages - I put it there to forge Gate Stone. After I reforged it I was able to put it on S5 tartarian.

If situation would look otherwise, I'd probably have a war with Lanka [as teleportation attack would be too easy to defend], that would take some. Hard to say if one of us would get 15 caps before one of the eastern powers that way.

I hope I get enough time to write good AAR later

Could someone explain to me how to watch the turn file? I downloaded the .rgb file and Zeldor's turn file, but I don't know where to put them.
Thanks!

The .rgb file belongs in the dominions3/maps folder, and the .trn file in a subfolder in the dominions3/savedgames folder, for example dominions3/savedgames/Kingmaker.

It says I need the Kingmaker .dm, but I thought someone said that you don't need it to look at the file?
