Default Wargamers, this aint the same ole tutorial!

Battle a properly dugged in Iraqi battalion with soldier fighting positions manned by infantry hunter-killer teams as found in the battle of the Chinese Farm.

PGW - Tawakalna's Last Stand*
*
Date: 26 February 1991*
*
Battle Location: 25 miles west of the Kuwaiti border*
*
Battle Type: Elements of US 2nd Squadron, 2nd ACR vs 18th Mechanized Brigade, Tawakalna Mechanized Division of the Republican Guard Force Command (RGFC).*
*
Description: In this scenario, the 18th Mech Brigade of the Tawakalna RGFC is entrenched and awaiting an assault by US 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Here, we want to recreate in winSPMBT terms, the battle preceeding 73 Easting, except in this battle, we have RGFC units entrenched in fighting positions with a deployed company of T-55's dugged in to their turrents.*
*
As an additional twist, we've modified the TO&E of the game's tutorial with Iraqi hunter-killer teams. These teams are a borrowed concept from the Chinese Farm battle between Egypt and the IDF in the '73 war. We simply swapped out an Iraqi infantry company, about 284 purchase points, with a scout platoon, and several ATGM units, and a single inf-sam unit worth about the same purchase points as the swapped out infantry company. We then organized a rpg-7 with a milan team and a scout section to form a "hunter-killer team." We wanted to play a "what-if" scenario and test the idea of the viability of hunter-killer teams (missiles) mitigating the force of heavy armor units.*

Game play.*
*
Best played from the US side only. Gameplay in 15 turns loaded from slot 316.*
*
Victory conditions.*
*
As taken from the game's tutorial, "...advance and capture the ridgeline approximately 2 km (40 hexes) forward of your current position. Iraqi forces in the area include armor and infantry."

Source material:
"The US attacked so violently that the Iraqis never had time to get back into their vehicles. The Iraqi battalion, also, did not prepare its positions very well: obstacles were obviously not complete, and it had emplaced only a few of its mines. Based on their experience in the Iran War, Iraqi defensive positions have lots of mines, barbed wire and other obstacles to stop the attacker. They dig in their vehicles deep into the ground, with just the turrets exposed so the guns can acquire targets. Unfortunately, the Tawakalna Division was only able to develop partially its defenses."

Correcting Myths About The Persian Gulf War: The Last Stand Of The Tawakalna

"As the Syrian offensive waned and the Israelis counterattacked into Syria, the antiarmor balance shifted in favor of the Syrians. Significantly, this action resembled the earlier engagements on the Suez front, in which Israeli armor found well-prepared and confident Arab infantry armed with antitank guided missiles (ATGMs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). These troops were covered by surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), held reasonably secure flanks, and had good terrain to defend. In response to these defenses, the Israelis determined not to press their attacks deeper toward Damascus. Possibly, the antiarmor lessons that the Israelis had already learned on the Suez front played some part in this decision."
