Default Extracting Graphics from Dominions II: The Guide

Requirements:
Dominions II,
Ms Paint or better program,
Ability to understand my English. Hopefully it's not too hard for native speakers, but the terminology a foreign "speaker" uses might seem strange for others who just study English.

Attached is a file which holds a simple quide as a simple text file, and nine JPG pictures which, I hope, help a little.

I have never received negative commentary from Illwinter concerning the fact that I "steal" their graphics. I have used and edited the image files, but never used them in non-Dominions-related projects (my Avatar doesn't count). Please e-mail the developers if you wish to use Dominions games' graphics in some project of your own. And don't forget to give them little praise, the last I did that resulted in less Guild Wars and more Development. BTW, some of my unscientific experiments seem to imply that "the praise" affects modmakers as well. It also seems highly addicting, so use it sparingly... except on exceptional individuals working on exceptional projects.

Now I actually attached the file...

Also, here are all the already-extracted files of mine that I could find.

Not included is the compilation of Ulmish graphics, which I even "improved". The Black Forest theme was made for Dominions II (2x the pixels allowed), so I copy-pasted Black Forest's better-looking shield over the shields of old Dom:PPP units. The graphics appeared first in 'Ulm Graph Update', then in my 'Improved Ulm Commanders' (along with the caped Zweihander included in this mod; The Warlord was one of the improved commanders), and finally in Arralen's Black Steel of Ulm.

This isn't one of my better days. I forgot to attach the file, AGAIN! Just to make it clear I can do that without editing, I'll now attach the mod with the best Dominions-related picture I have done. At least it's the one I like most. Unfortunately, it's just the mod's banner (the mod itself is about 1 line), so people won't notice its greatness very often...

Lol, that's the method I was afraid of . I tried something similar, but I had started by using a battle screenshot (to have the second picture, when the unit attacks), and with the zoom used in the battlefield, I couldn't have a correct scale and I gave up . Next time I'll start by the picture by right-clicking as in your .txt and I'll scale the second picture on the first .

Big thanks .

The one picture that I left out from the "guide" was, indeed, how to scale the units in battle. Having Dominions windowed makes it much easier.

Press 'g' to show the grid. I prefer to use it when aligning the unit. And, of course, 'w'. You can't really take pictures from battle without that.
