After some digging the answer, in a nutshell, is this:
There is a specific set or weapons armoured vehicles are supposed to have and a rifle ( with it's specific set of warhead size and HEK etc etc ) isn't one of them and becasue this was made an armoured car class it got caught up in that code. If it had been a truck class, it would have passed that code by.
The solution in cases like this is to assign a sound number for that weapon slot which I have now done for that unit.
