Default New player here - whats the most common format for multiplayer?

Hi all
Having just watched an awesome lets play by DAS24680 i bought the game and am considering trying mulitplayer but only after i have had some practice.
For anyone interested the lets play is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...UXWZ8TNVFnRZUF

So, i thought i ask what type of multiplayer game is a newb likely to get e.g. which gameplay mods (CBM?) and which era so i can pick a race and learn the ropes in single player. I gather there is quite a difference between vanilla and CBM so don't want to focus on learning the wrong one.

many thanks

PS : also posting this on the desura forums

There is a wide range.
Are you asking what is the most common here? or what is most common to Dominions 3 in general?

Here the most common Dom3 multiplayer games would use CBM and be a play-by-email game on LLamerServer.net

Nope sorry. Rarely use CBM myself. Im more of a solo rpg player, and any mp games are on other forums than this one.

The "home forum" for CBm is at Dom3Mods
http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/
So the best bet would be to ask there. I believe they are in a project to try and separate out the CBM guides.
