Default A few thoughts on Thunder Pack (Demo)

First off, I think the games in the pack are great. I love strategy games that are aimed at an audience that doesn't like to 'test their reflexes'. I have ordered the full Version and while waiting, I thought I'd comment on the demo Versions.

My favorite is Interstellar Trader. I always was partial to this type of trading game. Believe it or not I BEAT the demo. (OK, I was helped quite a bit by a random event - stock went up 22 points.)
I do have a few comments.
1) I have found that a fleet of scouts - 50 or so - will protect you fairly well in the beginning. They have the most bang for the buck and I haven't seen a reason to use the larger sizes of ships. Maybe I'm missing something?
If not then maybe you could have a limited number of each ship for sale at a planet per turn. This might give a good reason for the larger ships.
2) I went over the sum of money that should have triggered a win, but I did NOT win until the money was 'IN HAND' - not in the bank! This was confusing for a while until I took my money out of the bank and left the planet... THEN I won. I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature!!
3)In respect to fuel usage, perhaps you can add a little to fuel usage as you get larger numbers of ships for protection. Not much, just a little bit... perhaps 1 extra per dozen ships or so... or a square root of the number - 1 for 1 to 3,2 for 4 to 8,3 for 9 to 15, etc.

Overlord - Liked this, reminded me of Hammurabi.
A word to the wise for those reading this... ALWAYS keep and emergency fund of cash handy, I always try to keep 1000 for those unforeseen happenings. BE OUT OF CASH AND YOU LOSE! I did repeatedly!!!

Nanotech and Domain Wars - I have trouble getting cash flow established soon enough. I keep running out of cash and loosing the game.
I would appreciate getting helpful hints on these games.

All in all, a very fun pack of games. I look forward to seeing what else you might release in the future.

Thanks for your kind words!

1) Larger ships tend to get killed less often in combat; scouts are usually the first to go in tough combats. Anyway, future Versions will eliminate the 9 ships, and go to 3 more distinct types.
2) Yes, this was somewhat undocumented, but was done to allow people to play past the winning "goal" of the game, if they wish to. You do have to withdraw the money and have it in hand (allowing for due loans take you below the winning amount, which must be paid before you can win) to win and end the game.
3) Good idea; in fact, future Versions of the game will increase gas usage according the size of your cargo hold and amount of ships in your fleet.

Tip for Nanotech and Domain Wars: Be conservative with spending early on, for the most part, unless you feel like gambling. Build your forces slowly and only spend on what is necessary early on. It's possible to "rush" progress somewhat, but it is risky in both games.

Thank you for your support and have fun with the games! If you have any other questions, feel free to write here or send me an e-mail. I'm always happy to help out or chat about the games.
