Default Can't delete existing core formations in campaign game

Haven't played this game in quite a while. I used to be able to change individual units and even delete existing core formations with the 'Expand Core' button in the Unit Repair Menu. Also when changing a unit it used to be a snap to highlight/click on a diff unit and change that one too. Can't seem to do that either =/ Is this a bug with playing it on Vista or did I make a mistake when installing it in it's natural folder? Or is this a deliberate change? Just wondering =)

"Natural folder" means what exactly?

Did you install in "program Files" lie we tell you not to do for Vista and Seven?

If so - see the "Installing under Windows vista and Seven" sticky thread.

No, I checked it. It's not in the Program files. Any other ideas?

Also tried generating another campaign just to test the results. My current campaign game is Israel vs. a few Mid-East countries. The one I tested was US vs RUS. Again same symptoms. Maybe it's just the way it is now with the most recent update package =(

The only place that you can delete a core formation is in the upgrade/repair page purchase screen for new formations.

If you are trying to do it in the normal purchase screen (where you buy support troops prior to a battle) then you cannot do so there.

Right, and that's what I'm used to. However, in the two campaigns I recently tried it wouldn't let me delete any core formations in the upgrade/repair purchase screen =( So, I guess my next question should be; Is anyone else experiencing this problem and if so, what's the fix?

It works as advertised on my Windows 7 laptop.

However you have Vista - which apparently had some problems with its "UAC" - Seven is supposed to be better, and you can also turn UAC off in it if desired, which Vista apparently cannot do?.

But something to do with how Vista's UAC is (mis)behaving is probably it. If there is a way to turn it off in that O/S then give that a go and see if the problem goes away.

As to why it worked before and not now - have you applied any patches and so on to Vista in the meantime or tweaked O/S parameters etc?. It's a Microsoft Operating System after all, so don't expect it to do things the same way on different days of the month!

Oh - and what directory path Microsoft thinks should be "managed" (ie mangled!) post Vista can be odd. I copied some file into the c:\ root folder on seven once and then could not edit it since it had been copied from a network file folder and it had "carried across" some sort of internal flags that could not be turned off despite my efforts with the various M$ utilities. However I then discovered that if I copied it instead into say c:\zzzz then editing was allowed perfectly happily. So strange things can happen, depending on the particular path you use in Vista/Seven with UAC enabled. In other words - look at the folder your game is installed to, and maybe try changing that path. Microsoft UAC weirdness is often related to your directory path.

Thanks, some of that's above my head, but I do understand the gist of it lol!! I should have given way more information in my opening comment, chalk that up to forum inexperience! I have SPWW2 in the same directory path C:\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT and C:\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPWW2. SPWW2 works flawlessly. I can delete/change in the upgrade/repair purchase screen as normal. I ask this out of ignorance about computer specifics. If SPWW2 works ok in that path and MBT is right next to it would UAC issues still be the culprit?

Disable UAC, it had the effect of erasing my saved games in SPMBT but didn't touch my saves in WW2. Still same problem :/ hmmmm
