Default Devourer of Souls

Useless tripe or somewhat usefull?

I put ring of regen and pendant of luck on him but it sucks on att/def stats giving it minimal change of hitting anything let alone any sc/thugs... if I don't remember incorrectly atk was only 14 tho with bless it will be 16 and berserk 17...

Maybe usefull boosts would be body ethereal, berserk, all earth boosts tho they are hard to come by on ctis.

And in the end even tho devourer would manage to get close to any thug let alone trying to hit it it would propably go to waste cuz of cold/heat aura...

Would of been better off with three tartarians...tho they would of taken ages to gor and heal with my current nature income.

So any other tricks out there to improve this unit?

Giving him Gift of Kurgi is one of the few ways I've seen Gift of Kurgi be really useful. Whether or not it's worth the gem investment depends on the situation, but I doubt it's gem-efficient.

I've never used him, but it seems to me you're less in need of survivability items like the ring of regen and more in need of a burning pearl for an attack boost. Maybe a burning pearl and a flying carpet?

I've never used him though.

Necromancy! I just stumbled on this thread because I was looking to see if Seve82 talks like a pirate in all his posts.

Anyway, I equipped Ammit with a Flying Carpet and a Lycanthrope Ammy in one game. Worked like a charm! He ate at least one kitted out tartarian.

I am always nervous when I see a big CTis army with this beast in it. Devourer of Souls means that your SCs are in trouble, no matter how tough they are.

Memo to self: Keep the Devourer of Souls *always* stacked with a bunch of shamans, and for the love of the pretender, don't go underwater if you don't bring the shamans along...

Talk about resurrecting old threads

I was actually able to make it to endgame in that game tho Shinyama/Yomi(or whatever was that samurai nation) won it by consent of others.

In my view having that devourer was total waste of death gems as it has hard time getting hits to any sc/thug and resistances/mr suck major arse.

--------------------------------------------------

Moving anything around with no astral mages as "screeners" is invitation for mind hunters. And some nations don't even get discouraged by that as they got über healers on their mind hunt bases to get rid of feebles in no time.

And as all boring gamers in this game I sure have learned teh way of tartarians. It took some time and humiliating defeats but I got there.

For long I also thought it was useful to get normal healers to tartarian factories. I was so wrong...

I also teamed it up with shamans (or Golems if available), to avoid mind hunts. I also added in a feebleminded tartarian (I lost the Chalice and couldn't get it back), to get in a bunch of attack attempts, then it was easier for Ammit to get his hit in. I had a shaman buff Ammit with Luck too; not much point in Body Eth, since everything he was fighting had magic weapons.

Mobility was not much of a problem since I was getting completely crushed. Don't need to move around much when you're on the defense!
