I wouldn't go adding the M1A2 to the Taiwanese OOB just yet.

Quote:
On August 31, 2010, it was announced for next year's defense budget, ROCA plan for next generation MBT had been put on hold due to lack of budget.[16] The army was approved to buy 120 M1A1s, with budget allocation set for 2017 and delivery of the first batch expected by 2020. Some criticisms were made to these purchases, some analysts expressed that Taiwan's terrain and some of its bridges and roads are unsuitable for the 60-tonne M1A1.

In October 2017, Taiwan abandoned attempts to acquire surplus M1 Abrams from the U.S. and announced an upgrade program for 450 M60A3s consisting of replacing the main gun with a new 120 mm weapon, as well as upgrading the ballistics computer, turret hydraulics, and other systems. Testing and evaluation are expected to be completed in 2019 and application of new features to start in 2020.[17] However, in July 2018 the Ministry of National Defense renewed its interest in acquiring Abrams, and had set aside US$ 990 Million to purchase 108 M1A2s while modernization of existing M60A3s in service continues. [18]
Taiwan has no idea what the left/right hand is doing. I'd wait until you actually see M1A2s with the ROC roundel sitting in Taipei.

Fallout Re: Taiwan OOB

TAIWAN - You might want to see in the MBT Thread Page 85 Post #841 concerning DELETING or "locking out" the M1A1 that got into the OOB. I used some of what was just cited and more in the refs. of that post.

We'll give Taiwan more ATGM's, however, with us trying to currently work out a new trade deal, I wouldn't expect Taiwan to see any ABRAMS tanks anytime soon.

Regards,
Pat

DRG will become famous soon enough
Default Re: Taiwan OOB

As I believe I have already explained once..... the M1A1 in the Taiwan OOB has FOR A DECADE been in it's own unitclass in a formation named Prototype Tank with a text message that explains these were never acquired and were " included for "what if" battles"

This would be obvious to anyone actually playing the game but less obvious to people only looking at the OOB's with MOBHack and not checking just what formation the tank was used in.

The M1A1 has now been removed and the M1A2 put in it's place still as a Prototype Tank, still only available through the Misc menu but with a new TXT message explaining this is still a what if unit so I expect I will have to explain this all again in a year or two
