Why I disable Hidden Fire
I've played around with this setting for many games and I've found that having Hidden Fire enabled greatly favors the defender. It makes delay/defend missions easier and it makes Advance/Assault missions harder. Does anyone else agree??

Yes - It is supposed to, that's how reality works...

But do you feel that after playing with it disabled that delay/defend missions are now a bit more difficult than with it enabled and that Advance/Assault missions are now a bit easier to play ?.....you have shifted the balance but do YOU think it balances the game for you in a better way or just changes it so it plays differently ?
We do give a lengthy write up about it's use in the game guide. It can be frustrating to be fired on and not be able to spot where it's coming from but as Mark says...that's how it works in reality. But those preference are there so that individual gamers can tailor the game to suit themselves..and as long as it makes the game more enjoyable for you then it served it's purpose

Re: Why I disable Hidden Fire
I'm a former Infantry soldier, i'm well aware of mysterious incoming fire. I admit that I used it mostly in version 10, as I was getting very lop-sided results in certain battles. I turned it off and it seemed to produce a more 'fair' game. Perhaps not the most realistic, but a closer fight. I havent tried changing it in version 11, but I'll do some experiments.

Even for you in defensive battles ? The only thing we change that in any way may connect to this is opfire on movement but that is quite a bit different that what you are referring to but it's really the only thing remotely connected though I doubt what was done made detecting hidden troops firing any easier for the attacker but as you say you were doing this mostly with the previous version.....you said V10 and sometimes I forget which forum I'm answering
All I can suggest is keep playing with it off and report back from time to time
