Disk Invasion Sweden 1943 (Untested Campaign)

From the Wargamer scenario depot; I found a copy on an old Steel Panthers themed CD-ROM in my back up collection:

File Added : 12 JAN 2004

Description :

This is a campaign of a fictional German invasion of Sweden set in the summer of 1943, the time when the threat of war against Sweden was perhaps greatest!

Invasion Sweden 1943

Date: July - August, 1943

Nations: Germany vs Sweden

Campaign location: Sweden

Description: This is a fictional campaign.

With the German reverses at the end of 1942 and with a now reasonably capable defence force Sweden felt it was time to start distancing itself from Germany, who still had the small country more or less surrounded by the occupation of Denmark and Norway. This sparked the likely greatest threat to Sweden during the entire war, even worse than the early years when Norway, Denmark and greater part of western Europe succumbed to the Nazi onslaught.

Historically the Germans had worked out a plan for an summer campaign against Sweden with troops based in Norway, supplemented with minor landings on the Swedish east coast. The German assessment of the Swedish defence was that while the navy packed a certain punch the army would not be capable of mounting major attack operations, though they could prove stubborn in defence. The Germans were not keen on a winter campaign though, thinking the Swedes would receive major benefits due to well developed winter equipment.

Thus this fictional campaign assumes Hitler orders an invasion of Sweden to be carried out simultaneously with the Kursk offensive.

The German spearhead for such an operation was intended to be the 25th Panzer Division, purposely raised in Norway - a country not really suited to large armoured units - to be used in the case of an assault on Sweden.

Historically, the Swedes had been able to break the German Gehimschriber in early 1941 - making it possible to monitor messages between Norway and Germany. For the purpose of this campaign the Swedes have already had advance warning of German intentions. Your enemy have prepared for years, and now, he knows you are coming.

Changes so far:

1.) Converting to WinSPx format.
2.) Renumbering to Slot #19
3.) Increasing points by 1.625 based upon my earlier repricing of AMERICAN CRUSADERS -- which allocated 3996 points to buy a US Tank battalion; this needed to be raised to 6,500 points; a 1.625x increase.

As before; the original and converted campaign files are in different folders.

Posting it here in the semi-raw converted state (not yet playtested); because I don't have the sheer time to playtest it; but it'd be a shame to see this lost to oblivion again.
