Default Inserting custom music into mods?

Hey guys. As I continue with modding, I was wondering if this was a feasible option - adding custom soundtracks. Did a search and nothing came up. ):

No way to do it from within the game by mod or map file.

You can replace the game files, that's all. I've had a look at this a year or so ago and found out what the codec was that was used in the game files. The sound effects are raw data, the music is A-law compressed data. Because of differences in implementation of the algorithm, stuff might sound a little different when you hear it in the game, tho.

I did look for free music to replace the default Dom3 music by that time (which I have turned off all the time because I heard it far too often), but I didn't go through with this because I didn't find a lot of things that could be used well as battlemusic - one thing where the Dom3 music really stands out.

Its a computer. Anything is possible but some things arent worth the effort.

The names of the music files are locked in the game. You could record your music to the same format and name, then have a Dom3 icon which calls a program (such as a BAT file for windows) to swap them out on the way into the game then swap them back on the way out.

I use something like that to swap color themes, background images, game settings. But the format for the music is a very difficult one to duplicate. Id rather just play MP3s in the background.

Its been done with varying results. Do a search of the forum. Dont use the search that is ON the forum because it sucks but put this into Google instead.

I'd suggest getting some nice 5:1 speakers (klipsch are top of the line, but expensive), and then piping through either Last FM or Pandora Radio, set for medieval-themed music. That way, not only do you get the best quality music, but you also get new songs over time, and for free.

I like Pandora, personally, because although they don't have as large a selection as Last FM, it's easy to customize the music you want to listen to, and to "evolve" it over time, by adding in and cutting out artists and songs.

If you just want a custom soundtrack, ofcourse, MP3 is the way to go.

Definitely try this search because I KNOW there was a thread related to this before the the forum migrated over. It shouldn't be hard to find, I found it a a few months back when I was looking for the replacement sounds to the annoying ones such as the elephant attack and the Illithid attack.

The sound pack:

One of the discussions:

I used an old, free program called Audacity to work with the raw sound data.
