Default DOS Scenarios in Win

Someone has to ask, might as well be me.
Can the old DOS scenario files be dumped into WinSPMBT?
The readme says not to use SP1, etc., but does not exclude SPMBT by name.

The game scenarios were the original DOS scenarios, though the team went over them to ensure any problematical units were fixed. A very few items needed fixed.

Basically - any scenario built for the last version of the DOS game should run OK, but you should load it into the editor and check first to ensure no problems. Check the correct graphic is displayed, and also ensure the correct weapon is used.

All scenario data is static (so if the OOB designer changes the armour of tank X, the old values will still be in the scenario, and if the old data used icon 1234 and the new data uses a new icon, then the old icon will show).

Weapons data is an exception as only a pointer to weapon ID is kept. You should check the weapons data to ensure no rifles have morphed into say 122mm howitzers in rifle sections etc!

So - 95% of old scenarios should work OK, a few will need some edits. Assuming they used the stock OOB data of course - anything built on a hacked OOB will probably need some more work (and the hacked OOBs installed - especially if the hack OOB designer messed about with the weapons).

Cheers
Andy

Thanks for the detailed reply.
Now those people who were working on projects (like DD) can try to convert their exsisting files rather than start over from scratch.

Not only DOS scenarios, but campaigns too(and quite possibly saved games as well). I installed the DOS version of the campaign into Win. I took a save from the DOS version of a user campaign, renamed the .dat and .cmt files to reflect the way WinSPMBT does it and loaded that save into the saved games folder and it plays. I left out the .aux file, and so far it seems to work.

If this is old news, I guess I figure things out slower than some.
