Default "Minimize to system tray" for windows servers?

It's a small thing, but for those of us that run 24/7 tcp/ip servers, it would be extremely useful if the server process could be minimized to the system tray, rather than the taskbar.

I might be inclined to run more servers if this were possible

Taskbar clutter is no fun, especially as I have to work on this computer....

As a temp work around you can set up the server normally, then when its up and running and you no longer need to change anything on it just run it in textonly mode, that way it wont even show up unless you check your taskmanager.

the downside is that its harder to see if a server goes down, and that its hard to differenciate the servers.

You may want to check out some 3rd party apps like this one:

There are others out there.

Looks like that could be good.... Have you used it? Is it stable? I'll give it a try, but I'd rather hear a testimonial first

I'm aware of this option, the only trouble is that I run strict 1 turn/day servers, so I end up forcing host with relative frequency, which would necessitate restarting the server without the -t command line every time.

You could set the game to automatically perform the force-host at a set time every day. However, you may need to reboot the thing regularly anyway, particularly in a TCP game: Dominions 2, as of current patch, seems to be a bit lax in its cleanup of dead connections, so if somebody lags out while connected, the corpse his connection remains unburied and starts to seriously clog the server after a few repeats.
