Default Possible Bug In Long Campaign Generation

US vs Japan, 20 scenarios March 1942??? Whatever the earliest date for USA vs Japan. Battle points set in preferences to 3000 points.

In attempting to start multiple long campaigns (couldn't get it just right) I noticed that at times I was only given approximately 1000 battle points. For some the mission would have been advance, others delay I didn't notice the problem occuring with defend, assault, or meeting. This occured about 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 tries.

All settings were default out of the box.

It's a campaign. What you are offered are support points not "battle points" and those can vary. Sometimes you may get low support points, sometimes you may get a lot of them and sometimes it's right in the middle and if you get ten of the same battle types in a row ( say, advance for example ) it does not mean you are entitled to the same support points each time. They vary from battle to battle and that's a deliberate design decision

Hi

I think i tracked this bug or one close. Hard to reproduce

It occurs when you start a 'Long Campaign' and not a 'Generated campaign'

I used the default setting on my comp that was for some reason using UK as campaign nation in 1940.

Settings in prefs are set to 3000 points, and country training to off.

Choose Long Campaign.
You will in a normal way being offered 2975 points to buy your core.
If you exit at this point and try it again it will still be ok.

Now to the 'bug'...

Choose Long Campaign.
Use some of your 3000 points to buy something, or buy nothing (faster).
Click 'Done' and go to the support screen. Buy anything or nothing.
Change your mind and click 'EXIT'
Choose Long Campaign again.
This time you will usually be offered between 900 and 1100 points for your core.

Workaround : after you click on Long Campaign, click the 'Preferences' button and then exit on that screen. This will restore your 3000 core points until you use a support 'exit' again.

Seems you should get the thing right after a fresh start of the game anyway...

that workaround will work for an aborted campaign start (or the previous poster's multiple start attempts). The other one is to exit and re-enter the game.

It seems something is getting "hung up" during such an aborted or abbreviated campaign start process, but not on a predictable basis. I will have a look at the spaghetti and see if it can be easily fixed.

Cheers
Andy

As Captain_G noted it the problem isn't related to Support Points it is related to Initial Core Purchase and yes I was entering and exiting Long Campaign Generation repeatedly.

(I hate the initial Alaskan battles and wanted to avoid it)
