Posting this as I may not have time to get back to them.

965 - Original random shotgun VPs
966 - Relocated some VPs and changed values to try to get the AI to be slightly smarter.

Granted, all my playtesting consisted of putting the AI vs AI on this one as I didn't have full time to fully playtest; so your mileage may vary.

This is kind of intended to be a somewhat balanced engagement on both sides.

Quote:
Jacks and a Tortoise*
*
Date: November 3, 1945*
Battle Type: UK vs German Meeting Engagement*
*
Description: Following the heavy storms of 8-10 June 1944 that badly damaged both Mulberry A and B, the Allied advance into France stalemated as the tonnage entering France wasn't enough to support operations against intense German counterattacks.*
*
It is now November 1945 and the men of the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment (3RTR) and the 8th Rifle Brigade are finally approaching the border of the "Thousand Year Reich". They are the first British Armoured Regiment to be re-equipped with the new "General Pershing" Mark I/II tanks, and are quite anxious to try them out.*
*
Additionally, the chaps at Nuffeld have done a remarkable job in delivering their prototype on schedule; 3RTR is to assist them in the combat evaluation of the Tortoise.*
*
NOTES: In June 1944, the US Tank Production Plan for 1945 called for 2,060 x T26E3 (90mm) and 2,728 x T26E2 (105mm) to be produced, with 750 x T26 (90mm) and 400 x T26 (105mm) reserved for the British.*
*
This program was still in effect as late as 17 Feb 1945 when General Gladeon M. Barnes' office discussed the assignment of the Pershing. The British at that point still scheduled for 1,150 x Pershings to be delivered to them for 1945; and were pushing for 15 x Pershings to be released to them for training. On 19 Feb 1945, Barnes ordered the fifteen tanks released.*
*
About two months later, the dreams of the Royal Armoured Corps were brutally ended as April 1945 saw Pershing production massively cut. The last approved wartime production program dated 31 July 1945 had a bit over 3,000 Pershings for 1945; foreclosing the British Pershing. Ultimately, with the end of WWII, only 2,202 Pershings would be built.*
*
Likewise in the UK, the schedule for the A39 Tortoise called for the first prototype to be ready in September 1945. With V-E Day, followed shortly by V-J Day, the project lost a lot of its impetus and took several more years to be completed. *

Disk Re: Scenarios and/or Campaigns for 2023

Something thrown together; not much playtested, but a simple small scenario of infantry v infantry.

Quote:
Operation Stoesser*
*
Date: December 17, 1944*

Battle Location: High Fens, Belgium*
*
Battle Type: Semi-Historical German airborne assault vs US forces*
*
Description: This ahistorical scenario explores an alternate outcome of Operation Stoesser (Hawk) -- which was a midnight drop of some 1,300 Fallschirmjager during a snowstorm on the night of 17 December 1944 under the command of Friedrich August Freiherr von der Heydte -- the only German night-time drop of World War II.*
*
The plan for Stoesser was that the Fallschirmjager would seize the crossroads at Belle Croix Jalhay (N-68 - N-672) and hold it for 24 hours until the arrival of the 12th SS Pz Div.*
*
From the start, the plan kept going wrong -- to keep the element of surprise, it was decided to drop without reconnaissance or aerial photographs.*
*
The Fallschirm regiments tasked with providing manpower for the mission sent their misfits instead of their best troops as ordered. Many had never jumped out of an airplane before.*
*
The Luftwaffe was able to assemble 112 Ju-52s for the drop, but many pilots had never flown the Ju-52 before and half had never flown a combat mission.*
*
Out of 1,300 men sent out; only about 125 men landed near the drop zone -- some Ju-52s landed back at base with their troops on board, while hundreds of men were dropped 50 miles away from the actual target.*
*
More grimly, due to the near total darkness, snowstorm and high winds, large amounts of paratroopers were crippled due to impacts with trees; many died where they fell, to be found as the snow melted in the spring of 1945.*
*
By noon of the 17th, Heydte had gathered up nearly 300 troops from searching the surrounding woods, but with only enough ammunition for a single fight, seizing the crossroads was out of the question, so Heydte changed the mission to reconnaissance.*
*
Unfortunately, because all of his radios had been lost/destroyed in the jump, Heydte didn't know that the 12th SS Pz Div's advance had been blunted at the Battle of Elsenborn Ridge. Likewise, he was unable to call for help/assistance from higher command -- he had earlier requested carrier pigeons, only for Sepp Dietrich to turn down the request.*
*
After three days of waiting, now with only one day's supply of food and water, on 19 December, Heydte ordered his men to break through Allied lines and reach the German lines. Only a third made it.*
*
This slightly ahistoric scenario uses a randomly generated map to represent the crossroads, and assumes that enough of Heydte's forces were able to gather that night for an offensive. Can you succeed where Friedrich August Freiherr von der Heydte failed?*

Default Re: Scenarios and/or Campaigns for 2023

I kind of have a test scenario i'm playing with -- Katana Kengo, c.1945.

The Japanese plan was that a raiding force of three thousand men, both Imperial Army and Imperial Navy, would be flown down to the Marianas in transport planes and stage a massive commando raid to destroy as many B-29s as possible, along with the infrastructure of their bases.

Preparations for the operation were tracked by US code breaking, and when it seemed the preparations were complete and the operation set to start soon, Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr.’s Task Force 38 hit the bases of these aircraft. Over two days, starting on August 9, 1945, they destroyed the great majority of the planes and forced the cancelation of the operation.

But I'm not sure how well this would play out from a gameplay perspective.

Seems more better suited to a Battlefield 1945 FPS level...

I assume this is meant to be an alt-history scenario ?
