Default Feldwebel Schmitz and the Knight\'s Cross

dear fellow gamers

close your eyes and try to imagine:

feldwebel schmidt peering through a broken window, observing 2 T-34/76 and 1 SU-122 150 metres down the street.
the tanks keep advancing onto his position in a ruined rowhouse, reducing the gaps between them to a bare minimum.
very slowly, schmidt aims his Raketenpanzerbüchse "Panzerschreck" at the lead T-34/76, releases his breath and gently pulls the trigger...
KA-BOOM! when he looks again, all three russian
tanks are ablaze, still forming a neat little convoy.

that just happend in a game i played!

3 tanks occupying the same hex got killed by a single shot from a 'schreck when the blast caught them all.

just lucky me? or does this kind of thing happen on a

regular basis? i can't remember anythng like that ever

happened when i fired LAWs or RPGs in SPMBT. there

shouldn't be any collateral damage from HEAT ammo anyway.

so beware and DON'T STACK, lads!

good gaming

This little abnormality to the HEAT code ( it's related to tiny little changes we made in this game to the blast damage code ) has been fixed and won't happen again after the patch is released.

For now, just enjoy Feldwebel Schmidt's spectacular good luck.

i'm afraid the brave man went up together with the ruin he'd been hiding in when the russians decided to bring down what seemed like a thousand shells on it. the knight's cross was attached to the little bag containing what might've been his ashes (or maybe the house cat, that is).

good gaming

Hey,
I´ve had same "problems" (not for me, but the enemy), with PzIVf1 and StuH42 HEAT ammo in the Stalingrad campaign. Three KV-1C tanks surprised my infantry from the south and when turning my tanks around for a ambush position, found out that the first pen 10 HEAT round from a StuH42 had pen 16 and cracked the first KV. Next fired the PzIV and missed, however splash HEAT damage, from basic pen 6 HEAT round, killed other KV-1C. I thought I wasn´t paying enough attention, but replaying the turn proved the results. Good to see that somebody else has seen that problem too.

I had a single 76 mm shot from a concrete bunker kill 2 stacked Sherman Vs just last night. I suppose you could look at it as ammo from the first tank cooking off and destroying the closest tank in its formation . . .

Hi

I think that is a small bug that is about to be fixed.
Chances are that it was HEAT ammo from the pillbox and the second Sherman was hit by "splash"...something that HE rounds will do but is not supposed to happen with HEAT.
Keep your eyes out for the upcoming patch...

Cheers

DUH
Sorry...I just looked at the rest of this thread...ignore the last, as it has been explained perfectly well by others with far more knowledge than I.

Hurrah!
