Default C\'tis Miasma Pretender

Can anyone tell me if a non-cold blooded Pretender for C'tis Miasma theme, will eventually get diseased? I tested to turn 40 with an arch mage, and no disease, but I'm not sure how the probabilities work here...

Yes. If you are not cold-blooded, or, with the latest patch, have Swamp Survival, you have a chance of being diseased. You might also be diseased anyway, even if you are undead, demon or lifeless, but it won't have any effect on you if it happens.

I hadn't thought of undead/demon/lifeless options, so that does loosen the constraints on Pretender choice. Thanks for the info!

Also, recuperating pretender might get away with it. I haven't tested it, but if it is only a chance and recuperating won't take too long... Still a risky business.

I don't recall Miasma having any recuperating pretenders.

In a recent gane I accidentally took miasma (instead of desert tombs) and as game forces a human pretender I took the great sage . Turn 4 diseased ,turn 6 feebleminded..pretty much end of me

Problem is that most (?) MP games don't use mods, not even the ones that probably really _ought_ to be built into the game - the official Magic Duel Mod, and possibly the recuperation mod, given that demi-gods should be able to recover from Battle Morale.

I mean - would you worship a demi-deity with a bad case of nerves?

Immortal pretenders will be ok, however -- also those which are not coldblooded or undead or demonic, such as the Phoenix. Even if they become diseased, they are sure to be cured before it becomes serious. (I tested this and it works well.)

While pretenders can get battle fright I don't think they are affected by it. I have had pretenders with that affliction and they still had morale 30. My guess is this is true for all morale-30 units.

I don't think recuperating pretenders is really a good idea, though. The game doesn't really need SC-pretenders to be better than they already are, and having to deal with afflictions (or pay extra for a regenerating/immortal pretender) is one of the complex challenges of the game.
