Default Rectangular Formations

I have a question for the devs:

How difficult would it be to change the default battlefield formation from a square to a rectangle?

I find myself breaking large squads into smaller ones to achieve an overall rectangular formation, with strange morale consequences.

While I’d like to see it changed from square to rectangle, I don’t want to suggest any changes that would be difficult to implement. Would this be difficult?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Default Re: Rectangular Formations

In the Total War games, you can set the depth of your formation, so you can have a wide block of men 3 deep or a more square-like formation 7 deep. The consequences in that game is that if the enemy breaks through your line and splits you in two, it's a huge morale penalty.

I think that would be a good addition in some form to Dominions, but probably not in Dom3.
