Biological Description                   := Markab are mammalian with a quasi-reptilian semblance. They conform to the bipedal mammalian standard, with the usual sexual dimorphisms. Females are shorter and slighter than males. Though their Home planet is a Hydrogen world, they evolved as oxygen breathers in the low-lying areas and deep valleys below the Hydrogen belt.  They are unique in having yellow blood cells, though this appears red should they bleed.  Markab have a robust constitution but rarely live beyond 100 years standard.
Society Description                      := The Markab are mono-religious fanatics of a sort, having had the same belief doctrine for over a millennium. They consequently have an overdeveloped sense of morality and despise the excessive and over-indulgent.  Those who have committed grievous crimes are offered Redemption. They must undergo purification and many rituals of penance, and then may be accepted back into Markab society. This Path is open not only to Markab, but those of other races that seek Redemption.  The Markab are their religion. Converts from other races are called "Markab". There is no differentiation for followers. (Ref.: IPX Archive)  Despite their religious stance they have a peaceful disposition, are confident, disciplined and polite, boosted by an air of moral superiority that many sometimes consider being pride.  Male and female participate as equals in all things. However, it must be noted that there are no female representatives in the political field outside of their Home World. Their other passion is horticulture that has paid off in the export of a popular fruit juice called Orcha and the development of terraforming plants for Hydrogen Worlds.
General History Description              := The Markab's history is something of an enigma. They appear to have had knowledge of space travel that dates back 1000 years, yet they did not start a space program until approx. 300 years ago.   There is reference in their religion to the Minbari and a war between Darkness and Light.  Like the Narn, they believe there was a great darkness in the past, something that was defeated only after a painful struggle. This parallels aspects of Minbari religion, further reinforcing evidence of contact.  A deadly virus appeared on an isolated island on the Markab homeworld several hundred years ago, wiping the entire population out. The inhabitants of the island were known for what was widely considered sinful behaviour, and the virus came to be viewed as divine retribution by the Markab.  The plague was named "Drafa" after the island and passes into legend. Markab children were warned if they were immoral, the Dark Angel of Drafa would bring them disease and death. The Markab were isolationists for hundreds of years until contact with other races forced them to re-evaluate the wisdom of standing alone.
