Biological Description                   := Basic mammalian humanoid with a monotypic look; both sexes are dark haired and fair skinned with the exception of rare degrees of albinism. Facially they display a central grove on the forehead, and a pronounced orbital arch that is believed to improve low light vision. Sexual dimorphism follows the standard for mammalian hominids. Brakiri longevity falls just short of a century on average, but this may be the result of a high stress lifestyle. Brakiri physiology most closely resembles that of Homo Sapiens.
Society Description                      := The Brakiri have a unique corporation based form of government known as a "Syndicracy", made up of some 500 corporate appointees forming a council known as the Krona. The Krona runs all planetary affairs and heads the military. Major members are the Trader's Guild, Smuggler's Guild and Maximum Clash. A stratified social structure has produced a powerful organised crime element; corruption and lack of upward mobility has resulted in a "brain drain", as skilled worker emigrate to Kara or elsewhere in the Earth Alliance. The Krona has to rethink current work practice to ease the frustration of a huge middle and lower class. Culturally, Brakir was a heavily male-dominated society but when the Krona assumed power, women were given more opportunity to rise to prominent positions. Brakiri tend to be soft-spoken, which often hides the intensity with which they attack their work. They get along quite well with humanoid species, less so with other species. Brakiri religion is a part of Brakiri family life and centres around their only known comet, which has a 200-year solar orbit. The night when the comet is at its closest approach to Brakir is celebrated as "The Day of the Dead", when the dead return to life. The Brakiri have assigned spiritual significance to this astronomical oddity, it is a symbol of death, sometimes transformation. The last "Day of the Dead" was prior to Brakiri's achievement of jumpgate technology. Brakiri social structure is very similar to that of Earth back in the 20th and 21st century. These similarities are not coincidental, the Brakiri were able to record television and radio signal that had originated on Earth and much of their cultural mores grew out of their study of ancient Earth. So accustomed had they become to receiving human transmissions, the Brakiri came to consider humanity their cousin race and went to great lengths to emulate humanity. After making first contact with the Earth Alliance, who too had finally reached the stars thanks to the Centauri, both races quickly opened up trade relations and have been close trading partners ever since. The Brakiri have had interstellar travel since approximately 2110, but the only important Brakiri colony is Kara, a world in their home system, which has been open to colonisation for 80 years. 
General History Description              := The Brakiri civilisation has existed for approximately 2,000 years. In 1700 the House Torr of the Centauri Republic conquered and occupied Brakir and systemically exploited its natural resources for over 300 years. Failing environmental conditions from unregulated mining and industry started a steep decline in the Centauri populations and in 2040 the Centauri Royal Navy arrived in force and removed House Torr from the planet. House Torr was to be purged for treason and the planet was to be abandoned as economically marginal.  Centauri facilities and installations were destroyed, but a secret House Torr research base was missed, and the Brakiri resistance saved as much as possible. The Jump Gate was deactivated as the Royal Navy left, having sterilised the system, or so they thought. From these beginnings the Brakiri start their slow climb from economic and environmental chaos. The new Krona began operations to repair as much of the environment as possible, produce a military force to protect the Brakiri from future depredations and prevent any future enslavement. Nearly all Brakiri technology is Centauri based. Despite popular misconceptions, the Brakiri are not very advanced technologically. The Brakiri have only been in possession of interstellar flight for some 150 years. While very proficient at communications, transport and security/audio-visual technology, their space fairing technology is well below the technological level of the Earth Alliance or Narn Regime. Weapons are based on technology obtained from the Centauri Republic prior to the Dilgar war and battle-lasers and plasma cannons make the mainstay of the Brakiri's arsenal. The Brakiri forces are relatively small. Their ground forces have a reputation for excellence that exceeds even that of the EA, but are far fewer in number.  The gate was reactivated to allow exploration around 2107; the first successful manned trip into hyperspace occurred, with low rate, cautious exploration ensuing. The Brakiri have a large agricultural colony on Kara, the second planet in their solar system. They also have a mining colony on D'Grn 4, only recently established.
