Korslar*
*
We hoped that the war would be over by christmas, but that hope is fading fast.
Instead of withdrawing, the enemy actually rotated a new infantry division into Juelich, replacing the worn down 246th.
For the men it seems like there is always another open, coverless field, always another line of zig zagging trenches, always another village, always another German waiting with a machine pistol and a Panzerfaust.
For the last two days our attacks have stalled in front of the village of Korslar.
We hope a night attack might help us cross the open ground in front of it.

*
The 175th Regiment will send one bataillon against Bourheim on our southern flank.
Speed is the key!
If we stall on the muddy fields and fail to press the attack, the enemy artillery will zero in on our forces and destroy them with impunity.

*
*
Objectives: Deploy your force SOUTH of the indicated line.
Capture Korslar and Bourheim and defend them against any counter attack.*
*
Enemy: You will face the 340th Volksgrenadier Division. This is a fresh unit, but by now German manpower shortages are beginning to show.
Many of their trenches will be lightly held, but according to our intelligence they have a light, bicycle mounted force for fast counter attacks.

*
*
You will receive ample artillery support, but the nature of night fighting precludes the employment of tanks.
