CAMPAIGN NOTES*
*
This was, by a long shot, my favorite campaign for SP2. As the campaigns for SP1 and SP2 were written into the program, rather than as separate linked scenarios, I had to use the old Mk.1 Eyeball to recreate the maps and deploy the Iraqi forces. There are some substantial differences between the SSI orbats and the much better ones of Camo Workshop; therefore, I approximated them the best I could. For example, SSI had five separate platoons made up entirely of Iraqi weapons squads in some scenarios! They also seemed to have a fetish for 120mm mortars.
*
In the SSI campaign, you could pretty much overrun the Iraqis while using basic, common-sense tactics. Played like a Chuck Norris movie. In this one, you have to be more careful. You will likely lose several Abrams MBTs to Iraqi tank fire throughout the campaign, even from T-62s, and ATGMs will routinely target your Bradleys. Play with Hidden Fire on for a real challenge, otherwise, it just plays like a slightly more tragic Chuck Norris movie.*
*
Your core force is a fictional battalion-sized combat team named Task Force Jones (name of your A0's commander, took me days to come up with that one). You have a company of M1A1(HA)s, minus one platoon, a FIST-V, a mechanized combat engineer platoon, and a mechanized rifle company. You have enough points in each scenario to buy a couple batteries of medium artillery and an air strike or two. In some scenarios, you'll be provided with extra air support.*
*
I replaced the second to last scenario, which was a river crossing of Basra, and ditched the last one, a highly improbable assault on Baghdad itself. Makes me wonder whether there were some NeoCons on the SSI team back in '97. Anyway, instead, you'll get to slaughter an Iraqi convoy on the Highway of Death. An entirely gratuitous, guilty pleasure.*

I hope you have as much as fun playing this as I had in converting it. Takes me back to my days as a teenager. Any issues or concerns, find me in the Shrapnel forums under mkr8683. Huge thanks to Don Goodbrand and Andy Gailey for creating the twin beasts of WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2, and for keeping them alive while the rest of the SP series have died a noble death.*
