8mm wz.14 Hotchkiss, classified in Poland as HMG*
(ckm - ciezki karabin maszynowy) was a French *
air-cooled WWI-vintage machine gun Mle 1914.*
It was one of typical Polish MGs in 1920s, replaced*
with 7.92mm Maxims, then wz.30 in the 1930s.*
*
There were still some 2600 of them in 1939, used *
mostly by Obrona Narodowa (National Defence) units,*
armed with old French 8mm rifles.*
*
There were also 1250 of 7.92mm wz.25 Hotchkiss*
bought by Poland, but they weren't successful and*
found little use, except for armoured weapons.*
