The TK tankette, also known as TK-3, was a Polish*
design, modelled after British Carden-Loyd tankette.*
Most important improvements over the Carden-Loyd*
were: fully armoured closed combat compartment and*
better suspension.*
*
Armament was one hull-mounted air-cooled 7.92mm wz.25*
Hotchkiss MG. A production started in 1931 and 300*
were manufactured until 1933, including a handful*
of improved TKF with a new Fiat engine.*
A further development was TKS tankette.*
*
The tankettes were Polish most common armoured*
vehicles. During the war, in 1939 they were used in*
independent reconnaissance tank companies and*
tankette squadrons of Armoured Detachments *
(13 tankettes in two six-tank platoons in each).*
The tankettes had only limited combat value,*
but in need they were used for fighting. Their only*
advantage was small size, because weak armour made*
them vulnerable to any anti-tank weapons.*
