The TK-S (TKS) was an ultimate development of TK-3*
tankette. It had a better hull shape with slightly*
thicker armour. The crew got better means of *
observation, including modern commander's reversible*
periscope, designed in Poland. An armament remained*
one hull-mounted 7.92mm wz.25 Hotchkiss MG.*
Around 272 were made in 1934-1938.*
*
Along with TK-3, they constituted the majority of*
Polish armoured forces. In 1939 they were used in*
independent reconnaissance tank companies and*
tankette squadrons of Armoured Detachments *
(13 tankettes in two six-tank platoons in each).*
*
The TKS was one of the best tankette designs in the*
world, but all tankettes had very limited combat*
value due to thin armour. In need they were used for*
fighting, with small size as their only advantage.*
Ordinary MG-armed vehicles had no chance of fighting*
enemy armour at all and could be efficient against*
soft targets only. *
