PZL-37 Los ('Elk') was a medium bomber, produced*
from 1937. 96 were made until September 1939.*
It remained most modern aircraft by the war's*
outbreak, and a pride of Polish designers.*
Due to a sophisticated design, its advantages were*
exceptional bomb load - 2600 kg max and quite high*
speed, combined with small size and medium engine*
power. Drawbacks were weak defensive armament and*
limited choice of bomb sizes. Two versions were*
built: early A and main B with stronger engines.*
*
Only 36 aircraft were assigned to four bomber*
squadrons, about 47 were used in combat in total.*
A common problem for effectiveness of Polish aircraft*
was German air superiority, which prevented Polish*
bombers from being as effective, as they could be. *
They could only operate in small groups, without*
fighter cover.*
*
Max speed 396 km/h (PZL-37A).*
It could carry up to 2595 kg bombs.*
