____________LWS Czapla*
*
The LWS Czapla ('Heron'), aka RWD-14b Czapla, was*
Polish army cooperation (observation and liaison)*
plane, a successor to the Lublin R-XIII. It was*
designed by the RWD team, and a series of 65 were*
manufactured in 1938-1939 in LWS works in Lublin.*
*
Unfortunately, only 35 were assigned to five*
observation escadres (out of 12), and they haven't*
replaced Lublin R-XIII totally. The Czaplas, which*
were a modest improvement over the R-XIII, were*
considered an interim solution, awaiting for modern*
aircraft - the LWS-3 Mewa.*
*
In total, about 49 Czaplas were used in units during*
1939 September Campaign.*
*
Max speed was 247 km/h.*
