A platoon of 3 British-captured PzKpfW III Ausf. J, known as Mk III tanks,*
was assigned to the Polish Carpathian Lancers Regiment (Pulk Ulanow Karpackich - PUK) in Egypt in July 1942.*
The PUK also operated one Italian Autoblida AB-41 armoured car at that time.*
*
The Regiment guarded Delta Barrage on the Nile in August-September 1942, in case of German breakthrough at El-Alamein, which did not happen,
and the tanks did not fight eventually.*
*
Other equipment of the PUK at that time were four Stuart II tanks, fifteen Marmon-Herrington Mk. II armoured cars and two Rolls-Royce armoured cars.*
