Tankettes, classified as light reconnaissance tanks, were Polish most numerous armoured vehicles, although most were MG-armed only and their combat value was low.*

They were used in Independent Reconnaissance Tank Companies (13 tanks each) and tankette squadrons of Armoured Detachments of cavalry brigades (also 13 vehicles).*
The company or squadron had 13 tankettes, in two 6-vehicle platoons, and the commander's vehicle. In each platoon one tankette belonged to repair patrol, with a trailer, and usually kept behind.*

- 15 Independent Reconnaissance Tank Companies, divided among some Armies,*
- 11 tankette squadrons of Armoured Detachments assigned to cavalry brigades,*
- 2 reconnaissance tank companies assigned to two motorized brigades,*
- 2 reconnaissance tank squadrons of two motorized brigades.*
