Armoured Detachments (battalions, Polish: Dywizjon Pancerny) were assigned to Cavalry Brigades as their reconnaissance element.*
They consisted of an armoured car squadron and a tankette squadron.*

Each armoured car squadron had seven cars (two platoons and a commander), the eighth
car was the Detachment's commander's.*
The tankette squadron had 13 tankettes, in two 6-vehicle platoons.*

Few detachments were fitted with four tankettes armed with 20 mm cannons in summer of 1939*
(the 71st Armoured Detachment of Wielkopolska Cavalry Brigade, *
the 81st Armoured Detachment of Pommeranian Cavalry Brigade, *
possibly the 51st Armoured Detachment of Krakowska (Cracow) Cavalry Brigade).*
