Act 2, Scenario 1
"Mopping Up"*
10th August, 1942*
23. Panzer-Division*
Near Stavropol, Caucasus region*

As we are racing southwards through the steppe, many of our men are reminded of the heady days of 1941. Left behind Russian equipment litters the
dusty roads and prisoners are herded back. However, some things are different: The scorching sun heats up the steppe to almost 50 degrees during the day
and the first camels have been spotted by our soldiers. Many claim that we have finally entered Asia. Our next objective are the oilfields of Grozny, but we still have a long
way to go. We also have to cross the Baksan and Terek rivers. The population in this area is not friendly towards the Bolshevik regime and Abwehr agents have apparently been parachuted
behind Russian lines to inspire an insurgency in our favor. To not antagonize the civilian population, requisition and looting are to be kept to a minimum.
*
*
There is no Russian defense line in this area, but stragglers and retreating units litter the landscape. Because of the width of this front,
it is easy for them to slip through our lines without being captured.
We have some mopping up to do.
*
*
Intelligence: Stragglers from various Russian units are suspected to be hiding in this sector. We have identified several likely hideouts we need to check for survivors. Note that due to the proximity of Persia, the Russians in this sector are often equipped with Anglo-American tanks to replace their losses.
*
*
The sun is already setting.*
*
*
Objectives: Divide your force into small combined arms teams and investigate the marked spots on the map for Russian stragglers. Destroy any you can find. It is alread getting dark and if we do not manage to
mop them up, they will use the cover of darkness to retreat and reinforce the enemy in future scenarios.*
