Onward to Saint-Lo!*
*
The die is cast: We will try for Saint-Lo! *
There are two main fronts here: The Martinville ridge, partly back in enemy hands after their troops infiltrated back behind us on the 15th, and Saint Lo, the "capital of ruins", to our west.
*
*
Objectives: *
Deploy your forces in the indicated areas. Deploy 2 rifle companies in the area around la-Madeleine (these are the cut off troops) and one company back on the Martinville ridge with 3rd battalion. You may deploy your heavy weapons in either one of the areas. *
* Especially in this scenario it is imperative to follow the deployment instructions, otherwise it won't make much sense. *
Clear a lifeline between the 3rd battalion and the cut off troops by reoccupying Martinville and the bridges in the south.*
Attack and seize the outskirts of Saint Lo.
*
*
Enemy: You are still facing the 3rd Fallschirmjaeger-Division, but by now the enemy has been heavily attrited and is on his last legs.
You might find yourself facing remnants or rear area troops, especially around Saint-Lo proper. However, the infiltrators on the Martinville ridge
are likely die-hard fanatics with nothing to lose.*
Again you will have to navigate the labyrinthic bocage, however, by now you should have quite a lot of experience in hedgerow fighting.
*
*
We have three tanks left in action on the ridge, but getting them down to la Madeleine will be a challenge due to hidden AT guns and tank hunters. Make sure to clear the way with your infantry.
To support your attack on the city, heavy artillery support has been promised.*
*
After this scenario you will be moved to the rear for refit and reorganisation. *
*
Note: Since hedges can't be blown up in WinSPWW2, the best breach points are marked by at-barriers.
