Saint-Andre-de-l'Epine*
*
Our next objective is the city of St. Lo.
Command wants to avoid bloody street fighting, so our orders are to seize the heighground east of the city first.
This will hopefully cause the Germans to evacuate the town.

*
*
Objectives: Deploy your forces in the indicated areas. NOTE: The 2nd Infantry Division is advancing towards Hill 197 on our left flank. Do NOT venture into their area or risk friendly fire!
* Advance along the highway south (EAST on the map). You can either seize the village of Saint-Andre-de-l'Epine or bypass it and leave it to follow-on forces.
*Then swing your forces east (SOUTH) and advance towards Martinville along the rigdeline.
The closer you can get, the better.*
*
Enemy: The line in this sector is now held by the 3rd Fallschirmjaeger division. These paratroopers are proving to be extremely skilled enemies and they had a lot of time
to dig in and create an effective defensive network.
Also, we have a second enemy: The terrain.
For ages the French peasants in this area planted hedgerows to defend their property.
These are now formidable enough to block the movement of armor and severely delay infantry.
The Germans have turned each field into a deadly killzone, covered by a crossfire of automatic weapons. Also expect mines and barbed wire obstacles.
*
*
Each assault company (historically company E and F) has been reinforced with a platoon of tanks and engineers. Divisional artillery and 4.2 Inch mortars are on call.
To clear out the Germans, close cooperation with these units is necessary.
Be methodical: Pin down German defenders with MG and artillery fire, then use the engineers to blow holes into the hedges.
Finally assault the enemy forces with your tanks and infantry.
Advance to the next field and repeat.*
*
Note: Since hedges can't be blown up in WinSPWW2, the best breach points are marked by at-barriers.
