Nijmegen*
*
We have scratched together an improvised force at the bridges at Nijmegen, but due to the early arrival of XXX corps they had no time to dig in. Tank engines and tracks are heard rumbling down the streets ahead.*
*
*
Objectives: Keep the enemy from capturing the two bridges and reinforcing the paratroopers at Arnhem.*
*
Enemy: We are facing about a battalion's worth of US Airborne forces, with some British infantry and strong tank forces from XXX corps in support.
*
*
We have created a defensive line using several improvised units. The railroad bridge in the north is held by Luftwaffe and Heer training troops, including members of an NCO school (Kadetten). The road bridge is held by Kampfgruppe Euling, an elite SS force from 10. SS Panzerdivision Frundsberg. Their defenses are centered around the Hunner Park and they are supported by more Luftwaffe trainees. The area between them is held by Polizei and Railroad Guard forces of doubtful quality. Elements of 10. SS Panzer Regiment are on the other side of the river, but they have lost their tanks in Normandy and are forced to fight as infantry.*
We had no time to move any tanks across the river. Our artillery has already depleted its ammunition fighting XXX Corps throughout the day, so our troops will have to rely on their mortars.*

Everything BETTER than a draw will count as a victory. This is the final mission of the campaign!
