Kaituma Slugfest**
USMC Defense vs Venezuelan Assault**
September, 2025**
With relations with the United States at an all time low, tensions at an all time high, and with rumors of unrest within the civilian populace swelling, the government of Venezuela has decided the best course of action is to invade Guyana. For the past five days they've been allowed to run amok in Essequibo, facing almost no resistance from the miniscule Guyanan Defense Force.**
Unfortunately for Venezuala things changed when, three days into the operation, the USS Gravely was reportedly attacked by multiple drone-vessels. This was enough and the United States, already readying up for a potential strike on Venezuela, has launched operation "Carribbean Freedom". Marines are on their way to Guyana to stem the tide, while air and naval assets begin bombardment of targets of opportunity across the Venezuelan coastline**
You command a battalion of marines from the USS Iwo Jima, deployed to counter the Venezuelan advance into Essequibo. You are facing the majority of the Venezuelan 51st Jungle Infantry Brigade who are charging straight towards the village of Port Kaituma. Your objective is to hold the town, blunt the Venezuelan's advance, and send them running back into the jungle. In support you have a large number of F-35s orbiting the battlefield, along with a flight of gunships. This won't be an easy fight - the battlefield will be close-combat through and through and the enemy outnumbers you three to one - but with the heavy application of air supremacy and selective fires you should be able to pull out a decisive victory.**
One last thing to note -- Guyana has recently reopened the old compound of Jonestown to tourism. When the war broke out an American tour group was in the area, and the Guyanas reported that they've been unable to be evacuated up until this point. If possible you are to attempt to evacuate them -- we can't risk civilians falling into Venezuelan army hands.
