About This Mod
==============

This mod is really just an aggregation of all the stuff I love about
space opera, with my own personal twist. Many of the graphics have been
replaced or tweaked, some new sounds, and a lot of the data files have
also been changed to make this mod. There are not as many new quests as
I wanted to make in this version, but If I get a chance to, another
version will add more.

About The Ships
===============

Three new missions are available, with three new ships.

FIREFLY

The Firefly transport ship is inspired by Joss Whedon's "Firefly" TV
show, which became the movie, "Serenity". Since the Firefly 'verse
takes place in only one solar system and has no aliens, I thought the
best way to incorporate it into Weird Worlds was to set this mission
few hundred years into the future of that setting, in the year 3000.

In this alternate 'verse, faster-than-light travel has become
commonplace, and dozens of other solar systems can potentially become
part of the Alliance. That also means alien civilizations. It wouldn't
be Weird Worlds without them.

Being a transport ship, the Firefly starts with no weapons, but a large
cargo hold. Your mission is purely one of profit... collect all you can
and return home. Make good use of your Continuum Renderer Array to
avoid combat until you install a decent weapon. Once you do, you will
find that its 360-degree turret makes combat on the run a viable
option. A Medium or Large map is suggested.

AETHER CORVETTE

The Aether Corvette travels equally fast in space and nebula, and is a
good starter ship. Your mission is well-rounded, not unlike the
original pirate mission.

UTHERIAN EXPLORER

The Utherian Explorer is faster than the other ships, and is a good
scout ship. Your mission is mostly exploration and "diplomacy". Choose
this ship for maximum challenge.

About the Races
===============

You may want to avoid reading the following paragraphs if you'd like to
avoid spoilers and would rather discover this information for yourself.
If so, you will also not want to wait too long on the mod's intro
screen, as most of the new ships appear there as well as in the
simulator.

Reavers are another inspiration from Joss Whedon's Firefly 'verse. They
are merciless savages and make for excellent hostile fleets to
encounter.

The Kapellans replace the Klakar as the galaxy's traders. They exist
mostly because I don't like chirpy bird aliens.

The Krill are squid-like creatures that use bioships, a theme I am
fascinated with. You might find a derelict bioship out there if you're
lucky.

The Zorani replace the Garthan as the reptilian aggressors of the
galaxy. They are not impressed by the Mantle of Babulon.

The Syranni are a neutral matriarchal race which can become enemies or
allies. They have a new weapon based on subspace sonics.

The Pirates have joined the list of foes because every space opera
should have pirates!

The Zorg, Kawangi, and Primordius remain in the game, because they're
just too cool to remove.
