Here is a South African orbat for WinSPWW2.

It is intended for human use. If you have the AI use it, you may see some strange results.

It had its origin back in an earlier edition of SPWW2 for use in WW1 battles. When I was informed that there would not be a SA in SPWW2, I decided to make my own. Unzip this to your custom OOBs for SPWW2. BACK UP your data files for names and ranks. The ones contained herein will replace them.

Why do a South African orbat for SPWW2? The main reason is, I am South African, and my father served in the war. Although nearly all of the units contained here are in the British OOB and South African forces functioned chiefly as part of the British army and air force, there were occasions when SA functioned alone. South Africa contributed 130000 men to the Allied effort. South African forces fought in East Africa, North Africa and Italy.

There are BA, RAF, KAR Somaliland, and Rhodesian formations and units in this oob. That is because all of them fought together in the same theatres and frequently part of the same divisions. Example is the South African 6th Armoured Division had a UK Brigade in it. If you desire to do a KAR or West Africa only scenario, the UK orbat has many more Colonial units. The Somaliland Gendarmerie, Shifta, and Militia units, and the odd militia unit are here because there were not many of them, they were not in action very long, and they fought in an area where the South Africans also fought. There Rhodesians are here because two regiments of infantry (1RR in East Africa and 1RAR in Burma) are not enough to build into a separate oob. Most European Rhodesians served as individuals in the South African or British armed forces. Grenspolisie and the BSAP are the colonial paramilitary police once common in Southern and East Africa.

Baie dankie vir jou aandag.
