StuG Company*
*
The StuG IIIG was considered the best and most capable armoured vehicle in Finnish service before the introduction of the T-54 "Nikita". The StuGs were not to be used as a StuG battalion as was done in 1944, but rather as companies in tank battalion, just like all the other tanks were used. The StuGs were not used in training of the tankers, but were stored to prevent breaking them up.*
*
Finnish tank battalion was not intended to be used as a battalion. In combat the tank and StuG companies are divided to the brigades jaeger battalions to form battlegroups as was done in WW2. The tank company was also in many cases divided to jaeger companies. This way all jaeger companies would have a platoon of tanks for fire support.*
*
Now that the tank and StuG companies had their own infantry, the jaeger battalions did not have to train and give away infantry for the protection of the tanks. Tanks were considered as moving gun positions and they were to give fire support to the jagers. For this reason the tanks would move at the speed of footmen and behind the jaegers rather than use theit mobility and firepower to break through enemy positions.*
