Armoured Reconnaissance Platoon of PzJaeger Battalion*
*
These armoured recon platoons are armed with the CV9030FIN IFVs providing excellent mobility and good firepower against lightly armoured targets.*
*
The platoon consists of armoured recce sections and motocycle recon element. The platoon can be used as one platoon of 4 vehicles or 2 half-platoons of 2 vehicles to recon multiple routes. The recon platoon is best used for aggressive recon, but to avoid longer fighting with strong enemies. Ambushes and use of indirect fire should work wonders on enemies before the PzJaeger Battalions start the main attack. The platoon usually moves independently and few steps in front of the main attacking force. More traditional recon on foot can also be conducted using the dismounts, but this always takes a lot of time, a luxury armoured forces usually don't have on their side!*
*
To simulate the special and independent nature of the platoon, each section is its own formation.*

PZJAEGER BATTALION:*
*
The most modernly equiped tactical organization in FDF OOB is the PzJaeger Battalion. The battalions form the main fighting force of the Karelian Jaeger Brigade, one of the 3 readiness brigades (aka organization 2005). The organization is built to be as fast and hard-hitting as possible, as its main task is attacking.*
*
The battalion has following units:*
-HQ Company, with battalion's signal platoon, armoured recce platoon (CV) and armoured ATGM platoon (CV, Pst-Ohj 2000)*
-2 PzJaeger Companies*
-Leopard Company*
-SP-Mortar Company (AMOS)*
-Logistics company*
*
For engineers the battalion receives a Combat Pioneer Company as a SOP and the pioneers are in most cases organized into 2 detachments with a platoon of pioneers and one Leopard 2R mine-clearing and one Leopard 2L bridge-laying -tank.*
*
In basic attack mission the battalion is divided into 3 groups with unique tasks. The first group to enter combat area is the recce/ATGM -group that reconnoiters the attack route and engages the enemy by using indirect fires and ATGMs. Later these units can be used as reserve/flank guard. The next group is the lead company that is used to take a dominating terrain feature and allow battalion main forces to deploy for attack safely. The lead company is usually a cross-attached Leopard or PzJaeger company and it's usually accompanied by full or half SP-Mortar Company. The company also has required supply/command units and it forms the battalion reserve in later phase of the combat. The main attacking group is made up of 2 remaining companies plus the second pioneer detachment and it usually starts the battle as a meeting-engagement with the companies supprting each other.
