Intelligence reports Ermor tried to buy significant quantities of astral gems. I've decided on a preemptive war to prevent a bunch of doomhorrors appearing in our backyard soon.

I count on a storm, so I can cast storm power, so I can cast mass flight, which doesn't work because flight doesn't work in a storm. I really need to start thinking these things through.

My gambling keeps not paying off, but what else is new.

I see about 1000 Ermor troops on my borders, don't know what else is out there of his that I can't see. For me, it's time to weather the storm... the undead storm. So, I've started with a global. We'll see how long it lasts (saving up that 250 extra fire gems better be worth it).

Only two random attacks this turn. Joy. One of those is the ermorian cultist one.

Champion of Pangeae gets in the hall of fame after his first fight where he killed 2 guys, but in the hall of fame he has 10 kills?

I don't know why people find the deathmatch worthless. It's +150 experience, good chance of hall of fame ability and the trident has good stats and quikness.

The deathmatch is generally considered worthless because whoever wins it MUST FIGHT in all subsequent deathmatch battles. Since your enemies then know exactly what you will be sending to the deathmatch, they can customize thier response and kill your (probably valuable?) unit. This is particularly the case if you send your Pretender into the ring (!!!!)

Nonetheless I still find it useful, partularly since in most multiplayer games everyone ignores it. It is usually well worth sending some cheap worthless commander since it often does not need to fight anything unless an AI is in the game. In some cases I might send mages or even my pretender. Having someone counter them is not to huge a worry for a couple of reasons. First, since it is ignored so much there is often no battle so they don't know what you sent. Second, they have to have the counter on hand on the off chance there is another death match and something else has not killed the unit meantime, that is more trouble than most players are willing to go to.

and, btw, nice to see you back to dominions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Jotunheim replacement

I just learned about a family emergency which will require me to leave this game. I don't have to stop playing for a couple of weeks, so it is possible that I will be dead by then. I have commenced advertising for a replacement player anyways as it is best to have an actual human being playing. I just wanted to let my fellow players know of the situation.

Turn 69 - Marignon reports...

My "war" with Ermor is on-going. I'm probably more like a thorn in his side, but a big thorn, I'm hoping. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

We are butting heads at Man's capital... er, more like I tried to take it from him, and failed. The recent exchange left me wounded. His damn Ice Devil and Golem are ripping me up. Every time I think I have a strategy... it's thwarted by something I wasn't expecting.

For me, this was my first MP game, and I enjoy it immensely, learning a lot that I've applied to my other MP games.

I'm surprised to see Jotunheim still around, I hope he is somehow causing Ermor some trouble.
