Re: PBW status

Ok, the server is mostly functioning. The emails are now being sent for new turns and news, and you can send in email turns, however there is a problem with that. This will only affect people using the email to submit their .plr files. The turn emails are going out with "null" in the subject line instead of a turn code, so if you send your .plr file by email PBW isn't going to recognize it. I have an idea what is the problem, but until I can get it fixed you will have to use the website to submit your turns.

I'm having that problem as well. Frustrating. I'll try to find out what's causing it.

The outgoing emails were broken, but they shold be working for any new turns from tis point on.

I tried logging into PBW and it just keeps saying problems with the server etc. So I would assume the system is still down.... I'm unabale to even log into PBW to obtain the turn, but I will wait patiently until fixed.... I have faith in you to lower our withdrawal attacks by furiously working in the 9- degree heat and 90+ humidity so us addicts can obtain our fix.... LOL

Mac you need to clear you browser cache. Try hitting refresh a couple times. Maybe ctrl+F5. I think that's a cache refresh.

Ok, I have to take the server down for a bit to work on some things. Shouldn't be long.

Re: PBW status

Ok, I'm done workign on it for tonight. Servers back up and running. I think I have the email problems licked. It looks like it's putting the proper codes in the subject line with the new turns now. It also looks like it's remembering me when I log back in. If someone else could confirm that's working I'd appreciate it.

Re: PBW status

I don't know about the email subject codes (haven't gotten a new turn recently enough), but it's remembering my login just fine.

Re: PBW status

Ok, one more quick update this morning. Last night I got the emails working where it would put the proper code in the turn email subject line. Howeever it wasn't processing those correctly when you sent them back with your .plr file, so the process still wasn't working. I've got that fixed now so you can submit your turns via email again.

I think everything is now back to working the way it was before we had our problems this weekend. There might still be some catch up we have to do on the most recent mods Georgig added. I have to check with him on that.

I'm going to leave auto turns off for a while longer.

Re: PBW status

A very odd thing happened in my game "The Air That We Breathe". The server could not execute the turn, but this tiny game played out in less than ten seconds on my computer. This has happened on two consecutive turns after running flawlessly for some 40 turns.

The only changes are the recent probs with the server and one player being kicked.

During execution, a couple pop-ups had to be clicked off that server handles routinely.

Geo, I checked the root and noticed one emp file was missing. Could this be the cause? Can it be corrected. I still have the emp files on hand.

Re: PBW status

Grandpakim, don't do the turn offline next time. If it fails again let me know and I can watch it on the server and see what's happeing.

EDIT: Never mind. I found what was wrong. The turn shouldn't fail anymore.

Re: PBW status

Hi! I was wondering, is it cheating to use an already played race for a PBW game? I mean, an empire that has some experience points? I have not found any info concerning this. Thanks. Sorry if I placed this in the wrong thread.

Renegade 13 September 8th, 2005 08:27 PM

Re: PBW status

Nope, that's not cheating (if I'm reading what you wrote correctly). The experience points that accrue have absolutely no effect in game. If I remember correctly, they used to but proved to be unbalancing.

DeKaye September 8th, 2005 08:34 PM

Re: PBW status

Thank you. I am going to reitterate, so I can make sure we both know what I'm talking about. :} I develop a race I kinda like and play a single player game(s). I save the empire and then I decide to use it for a PBW game. I alter the things I need to with this race to conform to the game requirments. You indicated that the experience points gained do not make any difference and this is not cheating. Do I have this correct? Thanks. Just want to make sure. Don't want to be accused of doing some PBW "sin".

Captain Kwok September 8th, 2005 08:42 PM

Re: PBW status

Experience points don't do anything - there just for atmospere so feel free to use your empire file as much as you want.
