I absolutely loved both "...And I shall strike thee with furious anger..." Bob 3:17(a.m.) and 5. Please refer to me as Bob the Omnipotent, Prince of Many Names, King of Kings, the EverLasting Pyre, Lord of Destruction ... Thompson. (although Crack, pixelated is a winner too) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

How about :

1. All prayers answered ! (next turn)
2. The only thing more deadly than enemy archers is friendly archers (or a one-eyed Abyssian Fire mage)
3. I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid I'll disappear when the Last candle dies.
4. SMITE YOU, PUNK !
5. Just you wait till I research some more. We'll see who's laughing then.
6. Oecumenism denotes lack of ambition.
7. You're fired. Literally.
7b. You're fried. That's not a typo.
8. Make love, not war (I need Blood Slaves fast)
9. God, Satan...And 15 random others.
10. Kill one man, and you're a murderer. Kill a million, and you'll get Pazuzu for free !
11. Armageddon is coming ! (next turn)

Re: Dominions II T-Shirt Contest

I too think the "Bob 3:17 (am)" is super and great.

I sincerely hope it comes second :-D

Here are my suggestions:

1) "My other T-Shirt is Ulmish Steel"

2) (accompanied by musical notes)
"...then I saw my faith: Now I'm a Pretender"

3) "All of us are lying in the gutter, but some of us are gazing at the stars"
- Cthugle Wilde

4) "Of course I don't have a life - I'm playing Ashen Empire"

5) "and on the sixth day god defeated Man"

6) "The only thing wrong with immortality is that it tends to go on forever."

7) "Play God....and beat him."

8) "MMmmm Mmmmmm...that IS a tasty burgermeister" (not sure I spelt that right)

9) "Sometimes I've believed as many as 6 impossible things before breakfast.
...sometimes I just skipped breakfast"

10) "I don't get out much anymore"

11) "Prophet Forecast?"

12) (in same font as Guiness ad)
"Believe"

13) "God is not dead but alive and well and working on a much less(strikeout) more ambitious project."

14) "Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to believe."

15) "Of Mice and Men...and Dragons and Angels and Elves and Trolls and Molochs and Vampires and Demons and Ghosts and Wyrms and Virtues and Oracles and Ghouls and Giants and Assassins and Magicians and Blood Slaves and Knights and Starspawn and Prophets and Wolves and Castles and Goblins and Sages and Ravens and Temples and Librarys and Archers and....You?"
(getting smaller and smaller down the T Shirt)

16) "Choose lifeform. Choose a god. Choose a starter home. Choose mental endurance, magic skills and matching nation. Choose your future. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that?

17) "Total Global domination, or a world of pain and h..t
What's missing?
U R"

Although he isnt really a god he is often referred to as one. He is the figurehead of all Slackers represented by the Church of the Sub-Genius. Like many things that are internet subculture your best definition is to look for the culture dictionarys Online such as wikipedia and "the Jargon File" which can help you find the correct websites for the Church of the SubGenius and their famous "what the.." FAQ file.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._R._Bob_Dobbs
http://www.alt-hacker.org/~noadle/ja...SubGenius.html
Because we have such low opinions of ourselves, in Bob we trust

Personally I think Eris and the Church of Discordianism (the Goddess of Hackers) is more interesting but not as well known.
http://www.alt-hacker.org/~noadle/ja...ml/E/Eris.html but then since I host the www.alt-hacker.og site for the alt.hacker newsgroup Im probably biased. (Besides she very much fits MY style of Dom2 playing)

Re: Dominions II T-Shirt Contest

Back in the 90s, Red Dog, a very bad USA beer had a very good commercial, with Tommy Lee Jones the movie actor doing voice work. Commercial was advising people not to follow others, not to pay attention to conventional tastes in beer, not to run with the pack.

Key phrase, in his husky, growlish voice, was along the lines of "If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. Be Your Own Dog"

So, I'd suggest either a picture of Tommy Lee Jones, or a picture of the beer label, and (deific dyslexics unite) :

#1 : "Be Your Own God"

A New Idea: As we work on these great choices, coming up with the winners is proving quite challenging. So, we thought we would ask for your input. Post your top three choices here.

Please, no more than three. We will use the outcomes here to help break ties, as everyone seems to have their Favorites!

But hurry - time is short!

Well, avoiding my own entries, my Favorites has to be ... ummm... this is hard.

"Något gick fel"

"I am become death, shatterer of worlds."

"We put the FUN in Fundamentalism."

Karacan May 3rd, 2004 02:02 PM

Re: Dominions II T-Shirt Contest

My favourites, after long thoughtful contemplation (five would have been easier than three):

Tricon's 1: "...And I shall strike thee with furious anger..." Bob 3:17(a.m.)

Gandalf's 11: The Ascension is yours! (some assembly required)

E.Albright's 5: God is dead. Well, yours is, anyway...

These come in no particular order.

Oh, and I'd vote for a *black* t-shirt. Really. Noone who ever roleplayed and only very few computer geeks wear white t-shirts.

Re: Dominions II T-Shirt Contest

Alot of these I really like but I dont want to put Shrapnel into a quandary. So after I take out any that might be copyright problems, then any that would mean nothing to someone who never played the game, then any that would just start a fight with religious people....
Well anyway the best would be ones that make people ask about the game. The rest Ive added alot of to my favorite sig lines.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hmm, coloured t-shirts in massproduction are around 0.50? more than prints on white a piece, at least around german copyshops. And if the printer uses quality material that won't rub off after the first wash, the printing process is by no means more complicated.

Too bad the printer does not offer anything other but white t-shirts. However, will anyone actually buy this? I could convince myself for a black-shirt to wear on conventions and such, but definitely not in white. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif But maybe that's just me.

Re: Dominions II T-Shirt Contest

My top choice, (apart from all of mine :-)) is the "Bob 3:17(am)" quote.

I really don't like "Något gick fel", as it's not actually anything to do with the game, and is an in joke that only some forumites and people who've found that error message have seen.

Even if people did enquire, the conversation might go:

Punter "Why does your t shirt say that on it?"

Tshirt wearer "It's from a quote that isn't meant to come up at all, which comes up when the game doesn't work"

Punter "and that's well known enough to be on a T-Shirt? Um....ok. I think I'll pass on buying that then"

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">"With any question there is never a best, there is only Pros and Cons". Sorry, I quote that alot.

I like Nagot Gick Fel and I would love to wear it someday to a dominions gaming convention. It would be "best" for that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
But I think the devs and pub company might prefer something that would get people to ask about the game. More shirts might follow later, or a user with a domain can always hit CafePress (I highly recommend it), but the first ones will probably be for creating interest.
