Wow thank you, that will make things a lot easier for me when the diplomacy gets going :D

Also I have sent my pretender in again, and it was accepted. So it seems everything is working now.

I'm still having grief - with the banners mod. have cleared and redownloaded it several times.

Do I need it installed for pretender creation?

so we are going independent strength 5 and research normal, site freq=45?

I think I can avoid having human troops fairly rapidly with weak indies and non-difficult research, but perhaps that is part of a greater plan I don't yet grasp.

Also, has anyone else noticed how annoying it is to have mother of rivers rain on one's own firemagi?....... back to the drawing board.

Llamaserver is down, so it's not taking in pretenders. I have sent mine in, but I guess I will have to redo it once server is up.

Indy strength is 5 and research is normal ... but site freq. is (or should be) set to 60.

I feel compelled to switch to Jomon. MA TC is pretty sweet, but I just can't come up with a build I am happy with.

I'll wait to submit my pretender until this evening, so if anyone really wanted TC, they can switch before the game starts. <3

Jomon has some issues, but in CB, if you take a touch of order, you should be able to expand nicely w/ their Samurai Cavalry.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

He was playing Jomon in Preponderance, he and his partner had a pretty in depth strategy worked out so I think he'll have some surprises for us :)

MadFrancis December 28th, 2008 08:01 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Actually, I am playing Jomon in Preponderance, and I love them. Great nation if they don't get rushed out of the game early.

Oops, well, half right anyway....

JimMorrison December 28th, 2008 09:05 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Well, the actually "deep" strategy (we have) for Jomon, is in fact a team based strat, so much of it simply won't apply here. But, I do feel rather comfortable with them, and I have some great ideas that I've never been able to bounce off of a real human opponent yet. :p

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

which are the "banned" spells again? isn't there a mod for that or is 3 the limit?

LoloMo December 28th, 2008 11:28 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

As per the first page, there are no banned spells.

rdonj December 28th, 2008 11:29 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

I'm pretty sure by "no banned spells" MadFrancis meant that no spells were banned for this game. The most commonly banned spells, however, are arcane nexus, astral corruption and burden of time. I think utterdark may be banned frequently also, but I can't remember at the moment.

MadFrancis December 29th, 2008 12:13 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Just a reminder.

Rules: No Awake Pretenders, no banned spells, no smack talk between players but between nations it's okay (ie, refer to a nation when talking ****, not a player).

I think LA-Agartha is also a bit (unfairly) strong - so I reverted to EA Arco, which I doubt anyone will mistake for a power house.

Zeldor December 29th, 2008 11:58 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

I wouldn't call LA Agartha overpowered really. They have their strength, but also many issues, especially early game.

Reverend Zombie December 29th, 2008 12:51 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

If LA Agartha is available and you are still accepting pretenders, may I join?

Zeldor December 29th, 2008 01:53 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

We have 16 players. So we have 15 pretenders in and MadFrancis should delete LA Agartha pretender sent by chrispedersen or what? I noticed we have 16 pretenders in and hope we can get it started today.

Okay. So I deleted your Agartha pretender and we are just waiting for your Arco pretender. I'll set the game to start as soon as it is in.

Do you think Zeldor? I find them very strong early game; SP (not that it matters much in SP) but I am routinely #1 in gems and research.

I find their weaknesses to be
a). Magic diversity.
b). Movement is *slow*.
c). Lack of early SC chasies.

i can not seem to open my turn file, it asked me to install the single age mod when i try to open it which i downloaded twice from the first page.

anyone else has the same problem?

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

nvm, problem solved

MadFrancis December 29th, 2008 05:40 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Okay .. apparently you need TWO single age mod files (same mo, just two different names).

The link is to the correct mod, but you need to make a copy of it and name it "Single Age mod.dm" with the original being labeld "SingleAgeComplete.dm".

Not sure why, but I suspect that LlamaServer needs to delete a mod file from the mod list so that people just choose multi when selecting the age and not add the mod to the game mod list as well.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

sorry guys but it seems I have a little problem here...I can't reach the site that is hosting Asiatwist, mediafire and llamaserver both appear to be unavailable to me. I can still send/receive emails from llamaserver but I can't browse the actual website. I have all of the pertinent mod files but I lack asiatwist (thought I had it already)

Is there any chance one of you guys could email me the map files?

I'm also having difficulty getting the turn to run. I tried changing both the file name and the name within the mod to no avail. can someone be terribly explicit on how to get this to work?

thanks,

rabelais:

Make a copy of SingleAgeComplete.dm and rename copy, so you have 2 mods, not 1.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

I 've the same problem as Rabelais. SA mod is instaled but appear as missing for dominions. Thank you Zeldor, i've tried but it doesn't change anything. I still can't open the turn.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Okay, if anyone has a problem getting it to work, give me your email address and I will send you the extra mod you need to play. I can also send the original mod if you messed with it and it doesn't work correctly anymore.

LoloMo December 29th, 2008 10:36 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

I made a copy of SingleAgeComplete.dm and renamed it Single Age Mod. That worked for me.

When you click on the AsiaTwist link, at first it will show an error message from media fire. But just click on the "download now" link and it will download fine.

MadFrancis December 30th, 2008 02:31 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

Is anyone still having problems? If so send me a PM and I will email you a zip with the correct map and mod files. Also let me know so that hsoting can be delayed if need be.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Submit Pretenders)

I was trying to email a copy of the .rgb file for the map to deadnature but I ran into a wall, it seems gmail has decided it is too large a file to send, even after zipping it (and then trying a .rar which made it smaller). I am not sure what to do at this point if deadnature cannot download the map directly. He has the .map file as it was small enough but that is not enough to play with.

If someone can host the map file on www.filefactory.com then I CAN access that, but for some reason mediafire is blocked to me.

sorry for the delay...

I have changed the .rgb frile to a .jpg sdo it is alot smaller ... gmail didn't want to email a 18 MB file for some reason. If .jpg doesn't work, I used a free program called GIMP to do the conversion. You may be able to use it to convert back to .rgb using the "save as" feature.

Now all I need is your email.

EDIT:
Well, if the other way doesn't work this might, that is ...

Considering their troops, I think they are just desparate for... anything better than what they have = )

Hey, are we deliberately on a 48 hour time cycle or something?

Nope. People are just being V E R Y cautious about the critical turn 3. ;)

We should be (are) on 24 hour quickhost.

Oh no, I staled one turn. Can we put it 48 hours quickhost? The pace seems too fast for me.
