Everyone: I'm on vacation. I'm going to try to get turns in on time but I may stale once or twice...don't worry though I'll be back.
Mark, Any chance of bumping time to 48 hours?

48....Done! Enjoy the hols mate.

Re: Mod_Mayhem

As this was always to be a "get your turn done when you can" type game and everyone here has a history of being responsible in that sense, I'll leave it at 48.

I am now bordering the mighty, all conquering Ogres.... That makes me completely hemmed in now apart form the ocean, which I can't get into at present!!!!!!

Not sure what those Ogres eat for breakfast, but I am sure it falls into the "Iron Man" category.

Skinks!

The pit fighters are awesome, but expensive and cap only too, and they have a huge weakness, I'm using 3 layers of regeneration with them to give them the staying power.

Lucky that I've already started transition then. ;)

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Wait...you can't transition now!!!!!!!!!! Can't you wait till I blast you to kingdom come and then do the transition????

Bloody hell. Some players have no respect for the effort other players go to beating them, and then they ruin their plans.

Where is the JUSTICE I ask you!:D

Sorry guys delay this weekend was me, I'll do my turn tomorrow morning.

At this point I'm out of contention however, although nowhere even near to being knocked out of the game.

Cool Night, but mate, you are WAY in contention...trust me...its been a great game so far....I think i am going to be out of it.

I wouldn't count yourself out just yet. Still a lot of game to play. A lot of my recent gains are somewhat tenuous: raiding victories that haven't been taken back by Jimbo yet. Only real victory so far is against the vile dwarfs. Die little people die!!!

I'll also just say that its nice watching an artifact kitted ember lord go down in one round of combat :)

Sorry HD, just had to gloat a little.

It is gearing up to be an interesting end game, I have to say!

How did the ember lord go down? Inquiring minds want to know :-)

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Yeah that was a shock and a half.

2 x Dusk daggers did the job apparently.

I think the game is quickly approaching a win for the Skaven hordes.

Vermin Lord w/ 2x Dusk Daggers, Jade Armor, Chi Shoes, Ring of the Warrior, and ring of fire resistance (switch this out to combat whatever you're fighting).

They have S3D3B3H3 stealthy, high stats all around.

They're only vulnerabilities are demon and low astral. But the stealthy covers both of those in a huge way. If you're careful you just should never be fighting something kitted out to take them down, just attack, sneak, attack. Teleportering anti-SC can't catch them, and they're mind hunt immune. Very tough little buggers to take out.

They really shine in the roll I just used them for: anti SC teleporters. Keep a half dozen or so on hand geared up as described and whack anything that pops it's head into your territory. While they wait just use them to drop horrors on everything that moves outside of your territory or just blood hunt, so you don't even regret the turns they spend out of the field.

Two Dusk daggers + quickness is actually one of the better anti SC tricks, especially on a high str unit. Asjna's are also quite effective in a similar role, although any teleporting thug with two hands will do the trick.

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Why are they mind hunt immune? I thought the spell would target anything in the province, including hidden units, though I may be wrong in this. Just my thoughts.

The S3.

They do cost 50 Death Gems though, so they aren't cheap. The well of suffering should have been dispelled as a priority though...

Yep. For every level of astral you have a 40%(I think this is the correct prob but not 100% sure) chance of detecting a mind hunter and feeble-minding him. So S1 mage will catch some, S2 mage will catch most, S3 mage will catch all.

I haven't used them as much as I should this game, but Skaven also has nice S2-S3 spies/H3 priests in the grey seers.

Only 40 D gems. But still not exactly cheap, but also not completely out of line with other EDM summons. For instance the ember lord is 60, Aesir is 40, Zmey 30, etc. But I would agree that the Vermin lord probably should be priced around 50. He's definitely closer to something like the ember lord in terms of usefulness.

HoleyDooley September 26th, 2012 07:26 AM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Well a Vermin lord can take out a fully kitted Ember Lord in a single round, but 2 Zmeys just toasted 2 Vermin lords kitted out exactly the same.

You live and you learn, I thought my Zmeys were toast.

Nightfall September 26th, 2012 08:52 AM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Nah you were just using them against the wrong person...

Hunters are awesome SC killers...

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Night mate, I think you misunderstood me. My 2 Zmeys swatted 2 Vermin Lords this turn. The Vermin Lords had Dusk Daggers and the usual kit but all they managed to do was reduce a Zmey to 2 heads...surprising.

Yep. Dominions RNG killed me that round. I ran that battle about 20 times to test 2 Vermin lords kitted vs 2 zmeys.

2 Zmeys toast a single vermin lord about 80% of the time. 2 Vermin lords toast the two zmeys about 80% of the time. They stuck hard the first round and both happened to target the same vermin lord, killing him. Leaving only the one lord left, who quickly went down.

I should have given them each about 15 blood slaves. The Zmeys almost invariably have to target the blood slaves first giving the vermin lords that extra round to cast Body etherial. Oh well, you live, you learn.

Handing a few blood slaves to a thug/SC is actually a pretty nice trick in many scenarios. It's definitely something worth remembering.

Wow! Necroed game. I'd deleted this one off my current games list and had assumed that it was over. Do we still have Brettonia and Nehekara in? If so, i'd be up for resuming.
