Re: PBW status

Well now, I haven't checked this thread for a couple days. I don't think we've been down since the 11th, but it does appear we are down this morning again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Probably an ISP issue so hopefully it will clear itself up. I'm not at the server right now to do anything.

Still down as of 10:45am EST. I'll try again tonight when I get home.

I'm currently not seeing a problem.

Re: PBW status

The first thing to do whenever PBW throws an error like that is to try again in the other UI.

The graphic UI doesn't play well with browsers other than Internet Explorer. If you use something else, you'll probably get fewer errors with the text UI.

I'm getting a time out on connecting to the PBW site!

Wow what service! about the third time I've posted about a problem connecting to the PBW site and it's fixed right after I post.

(yes I tried three times before posting.)

Thanks.

Re: PBW status

We're going to be down a bit while we do some maintenance. Shouldn't be too long.

UPDATE: Sorry, we hit a bit of a snag and the servers going to be down a bit longer than planned. We expect to have it back up this evening sometime. Bear with us.

Well worth waiting for, Geo.

And let me say I do appreciate the service. I'm having a blast in my current PBW game with capnq, Kotau, Nivek, and others.

It should be working ok now. I will probably be doing some more work on it later this evening, but you should be fine to use it in the mean time.

Ok, going to take it down again for just a bit. Going to try this update again.

UPDATE: Ok, I'm done for now. Servers fine to use. Again, I may be taking it down later if I can get a few things done in the mean time. I'll post a message here if I do.

UPDATE 2: Well, that didn't take as long as I thought. I'm ready to take it back down again for a few minutes. Sorry for the up and down tonight. It's the price we pay for delaying all these maintenace tasks for so long.

UPDATE 3: Ok, last update for tonight. Maintenance is done. Servers up and running. Enjoy.

Looks like the server may be down this afternoon. We've been having some high winds. Might have knocked out power or the cable.

No, this is the cold air rushing back to fill in the void from the sudden lack of hot air..

Re: PBW status

Actually, I heard from one person that they can get to the site ok, but I cannot from work here. But I can get to the Internet obviously as I am posting this. Either I'm on the internet or I'm experiencing an extremely vivid yet strangely mundane hallucination. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

So I'm not sure if we are down or not. Your results may vary. I'll check it out when I get home.

EDIT: Well, I'm home and it seems to be working ok.

Not loading for me either. Then again Qwest has stated that they are doing work on something in Denver and that this might effect access to some web sites.

Re: PBW status

Every time I notice a posting here I've checked and the server was up and the ISP connection was working. We do have occasional outages with the ISP that will come back up on their own before I even realize there is a problem. It's quite possible you have just had some bad luck lately hitting it during these brief outages.

Re: PBW status

Well when I said the connections were spotty I didn't mean just with PBW. It's any website. It fails to load but when I hit refresh, more often than not it works. I just meant I was pretty sure PBW was down because I kept trying and no luck.

Re: PBW status

Well I feel rather sheepish. I reset the power to the cable modem a couple times yesterday and each time it would go back down after a few minutes. I was getting a little frustrated and about to call the ISP when I thought about disconnecting and reconnecting the cable line to make sure that wasn't the problem.

Before I even gave the cable going into the back of the modem a quarter turn it fell out in my hand. It was so loose I'm suprised it didn't fall out while I was recycling the power all those times over the last few weeks.

We'll see how it goes. I would bet we see a big improvement in uptime. If it keeps going down though I'll get ahold of the cable guys.
