I enjoyed it too, though more for the unintentional humor than the plots. The best part of the show was how these Marines were BOTH elite space fighter pilots AND elite infantry! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif I guess the theory was that on ground missions they could be their own air support or something. Closer liaison and all that, I guess. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Situation: The Wildcards are in a trench on some nameless planet, pinned down by heavy enemy fire.

Wang [into radio] - "Hammer One-Three, this is Groundhog Six! Need airstrike 100 meters northeast of my position!" [points northeast]

Vansen [next to Wang] - "This is Hammer One-Three!" [looks where Wang is pointing] "Roger, on the way!"

Vansen jumps out of the trench, runs two klicks to the rear, hops into her waiting Hammerhead space fighter, delivers the airstrike precisely on target, lands, runs the two klicks back to her squad, falls into the trench heaving with exhaustion.

Wang [into radio] - "Hammer One-Three from Groundhog Six! Need another airstrike 150 meters southeast--"

Vansen [prostrate, panting] - "Drop dead, jarhead!"

Wang turns to Hawkes.

Wang [into radio] - "Hammer One-Four from Groundhog Six! Need airstrike..."

I watched every episode of that show. It died far too soon. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

A galaxy class starship has over 1,000 crew members. So no 200 crew there.

Enterprise used TNG warp numbers. TNG warp numbers is an exponential system, with numbers from 1 to 10. Intergral warp numbers, like 2, or 9, are the most energy efficient. From 9 to 10, that is the zone of the really really fast. Warp 10, theoretically, is being completly submerged in subspace, existing everywhere at once. Let's just assume that means you can pop out anywhere, anytime.

Subspace also has some very interesting effects on biology...

Hmm...Think maybe a new thread for it? Don't want to clog this one.

I don't recall TNG ever going to warp 10. I have a TNG manual at home if you want exact numbers on stuff. What about stuff from the movies.

The Voyage Home had them slingshot around the sun to reach warp 10, I think. Warp 10 on TOS was regularly exceeded in TNG, so that must be out.

Then there is the trip to the center of the galaxy in just a few weeks.... We'll just pretend that didn't happen, for the sake of our sanity (or whatever it's been replaced with) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Are you talking about when the traveller accerated the Enterprise into a whole other gaalxy? That's about Warp 9.9999999996. Good thing they were in the carpool lane.

Um...Well, yours was first. You could always just cross-qoute what I stuck in my thread, then we go from there, or something.

In any case, I have to go real soon.

LOL you know what's funny while you guys talk about the whole ST consistancy thing is the fact that SAAB was only in the year 2068 and yet we had interstellar colonies and Carriers with a crew of 15,000 and the UN was actually EFFECTIVE (OMG WOW) and had it's own military. And we had space battleships (which we only saw in passing sadly) and other cool stuff like that. Anyone think that's even possible in only 60 years?

Wasn't that from one of the Trek movies first? ST:VI I think, seems the kind of thing the crazy bald Klingon general would have said.

The series was out before the Movie First Contact. I know it was said before in the series, but I do believe that it was coined first in Space Above And Beyond.

Abandon All Hope!
