Randomosity I - Started!
Details:
www.soapyfrog.net/dom2/randomosity1.htm We are looking for 10 players. No house rules, only mod is Zen's pretender mod v1.9. Hectic, small map fun!! We're playing on map 04DecS21, a Gandalf Parker-generated random map, with 85 provinces (10 water). Game Settings: Indep Strength: 9 Research: hard Magic Site Freq: 50 Hall of Fame: 15 Graphs: off Renaming: allowed Victory: Standard Current Player List: Ctis - Soapyfrog Pangaea - Nappa Abysia - The_Tauren13 Man - Legacyspy Marignon - Pashadawg Jotunheim - Jurri Caelum - DragonFire11 Vanheim - quantum_mechani Pythium - Cainehill Atlantis - Vega *** Note: Dec. 8th 2004 *** We will be using Zen's pretender mod v1.9 after all. Might also be that some people don't like very difficult research (having gotten enough of that in Cohen's many games) or indies-9. Or, like myself, they prefer to get into games using Zen's pretenders mod. Anyways, good luck. |

I could be convinced to use the pretender mod... I just figured I would see if anyone actually wants to play unmodded games. Any comments for or against, form those already committed?

I am okay with pretender mod as long as we use scales mods with it, and while we r at it why dont we use the Fearen test mod(from fools lamment 3)

We could do that, of course I am in favour of the idea... although people might balk at the more extensive spell/item modding.

Just to point out, Zen's scale mod is currently broken: the 19 protection fanatics are bad enough as a random event, but they also take the place of independent militia, as well as the militia that are recruitable by nations such as Man and that show up as PD troops for others (such as Pythium).
While the resource cost is high (29) for recruiting, think of Pythium with 20 sacred 19 protection fanatics for the cost of 10 PD. IMO, it's totally unbalanced until the militia/fanatics issue is fixed. Edit: Unlike Marignon's fanatics, these ones from the mod are non-sacred, but it still gives a big, unintended, boost to those nations with 16 morale, 19 armor, PD. |

The mod compilation I am using does not include Zen's scale mod, or the replacement of militia with fanatics.
This mod currently affects the scales as follows: #turmoilevents 3 #deathsupply 30 #deathdeath 5 #slothincome 3 #slothresources 25 #misfortune 15 #luckevents 15 That's it! Just a basic nerf to the most abused scales. |

Heheh... yes you need to download the map, and also the pretender mod since we will be using it. Both are linked to the webpage provided in the first post in this thread.

I started a SP game to get a sense of the map. I had C'tis two territories to my left, Abysia 3 territories to my right and Arco 3 territories down from me. OUCH.

What is the IP address? I am trying to upload and it t'aint working. I have been using "soapyfrog.no-ip.info" as the IP, and 2348 as the port. Am I missing something?

Server is up, everything is good. Should work! IP address is dynamic, so it will change over time. Right now it is 24.203.110.39

Still tweaking and testing pretender setups, since I haven't done Pythium since way back in my newbie days. Sounding like others were hoping for a Sunday start time - Satyrday night okay for my pretender upload? I'll slot something in by whenever, but could use the time. |

Ok we are full!
We may have one extra player, a friend of mine, relative newbie, wants to try a quick game. So we may have an 11 player. That 10 land and 1 sea... ouch. Still have to edit the map, will look at that straight away. |

Ah I am confused, Vega IS the extra guy. Good then we are 10 precisely, and we will start whenever all the pretenders are uploaded (tomorrow, hopefully?).

I've got a pretender in - all that's missing is Man/Legacyspy. (And other people don't need to DL the corrected map file - if you have the map, the province neighbor changes only need to be on the server.) |
