In November 1990, the 127th Motor-Rifle Division assigned to the base had: 60 x T-72 46 x BMP-2 71 x BMP-1 85 x BTR-70 6 x BTR-60 12 x 2S1 Gvozdika 122mm SPH 72 x D-30 122mm Howitzers 12 x BM-21 Grad In 1994, the 127nd MRD was reorganized into the 102nd Military Base. Re: Caucasus War 2020 How-To-Guide
The big takeaway from this war is that loitering munitions such as:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAI_Harpy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAI_Harop have "come of age". Basically, all of the loitering munitions have a 20-30 kg HE-FRAG warhead and can either operate in: "Fire at predicted enemy concentration, autonomously search for targets, if no target found either self destruct or return to base" "Man in loop control" with someone watching the video and confirming what to strike or not. And because they're smaller and move slower than "traditional" air defense targets, they're overlooked by conventional SHORAD/Air Defenses. Then again, like in Operation Desert Storm, we're only seeing the "good" videos of successful loitering munition attacks; the Azerbaijani MoD isn't going to post video of them being shot down or missing their targets. |

This is from an Armenian military exercise. Looks very flat, with almost no cover.

Re: Caucasus War 2020 How-To-Guide
This is interesting, regarding Armenia's T-90 Fleet:
Back in 2014, they won a *single* T-90 due to their performance at the Tank Bialathon in Russia: http://asbarez.com/126040/armenia-wi...n-competition/ Quote:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_N...rabakh_clashes Apparently Russia supplied 16 to 30 T-90S to Armenia after that conflict. |

Re: Caucasus War 2020 How-To-Guide
What's reported and what is shown has, and always will be, what whoever is reporting it or showing it wants you to see.
"There are lies, damn lies and Statistics"......add to that video footage and reporting bias add to that the advances in CGI and EVERYTHING is potentially "fake news" |
Re: Caucasus War 2020 How-To-Guide
Another thing to consider is that apparently the Azeris stopped showing these things for about a day or so (don't know if they resumed them yet).
Speculation on the cessation of drone videos is: 1.) They ran out of them temporarily -- plausible; especially since Canada slapped export bans onto a digital camera made in Canada that's used in some drones. 2.) Bad Weather prevented drones from being used -- also plausible; since you're not going to put a very nice camera on an expendable drone. |

Wow, I can even recognize video games being used in some "combat" footage. In particular, the Su-25 vs. Shilka duel which comes from DCS.
